I have an s13 SR20DET black top. My motor is all apart as I speak. I have a problem with my block. The bolt holes on the block where the transmission connects to the block are stripped. Well the 2 bottom ones that are used for the engine stand that is. Im not sure what I should do. Should I just rethread it and get bigger bolts? or take it to a shop to repair? how much would it be? Any ideas?

You can use Timecerts, or just retap them.

try to clean it and tap it out. When your are tapping it, use lube. Preferably aluminum tap fluid. but anything is better than nothing.

if that does not work, i recomend a helicoil.

time-serts might be a little over kill and in some area's they are hard to find. plus helicoils are cheaper.

either way, use loctite. that stuff is the ****. (blue if you plan to take it out again anytime soon, and red if you want it to be hardcore about it)

If I were you, take it to a machine shop to have it repaired. It's not that expensive.

Helicoil is definatley a life saver for stripped bolt holes. Used one on the timing belt tensioner bolt hole in my subaru and its held up nice for over a year now.

where is the fun in that? besides anyone who is going to work on a car should have a set of easyouts and a helicoil kit. or at least know how to use them.

The fun is driving the car, not working on the car.
