Unlike a lot a threads here, including ones I've started, let me start off by saying that my CA is running great. I just need to adjust something and I'm not sure where to start.

I'm running a stock CA with VPC (MAF delete.) It works great except that if I'm driving on the highway and bog down the engine by having it in too high a gear for the RPM, it will backfire a little.

It's really not a big deal since I shouldn't be bogging it down anyway.

Any ideas about what would cause this? I'm thinking the TPS is a little off.

Thanks

First off, lets be clear, you're having a misfire, not a back fire. A back fire happens on carburetted/nitrous cars when the fuel in the intake track ignites and makes a loud noise and sometimes catches things on fire.

That being said, what can you tell us about the AFR's when it happens? There are multiple things that can cause a misfire. The situation you're in sounds like the engine is probably too lean and is failing to ignite the mixture at the load that it's at.

A video would help to diagnose the problem as well, but my guess is that this is less of a sensor issue, and more of a tuning issue. Have you tried making adjustments to the VPC?

I took the wideband O2 sensor off, but that's something I'll look at. The VPC has a fuel mixture setting, and I could make it richer a notch.

Thanks

Curious if you found anything out... I agree with Ryan... Need to know what your AFR's are... I have a suspicion you are having a fuel issue.

If I ever solve the problem, I'll let you guys know. It's hard to repeat it, but I've been playing with some of the settings on my VPC and we'll see if that helps.
