Been running 10w30 in this new engine, but I'm switching to 15w40 this weekend.

However, I just wondered, those of you running 10w30, what do you see normally under warm cruise conditions? Here's what I see on this new engine:

Remember, these are WARM/HOT values, not cold start.

Idle = around 15-18psiUnder 3krpm = around 30-35psiAbive 3krpm = around 40psi

Just wanted to verify that these would be acceptable on such lightweight oil.

Thanks!

yeah thats about where mine are at. My turbo is a sidemount... so the hot manifold and turbo sit right next to the block causing even more heat & thinner oil. The general rule of thumb is 10 psi of oil pressure for every 1k rpm's.

Of course it will be higher when cold... but thats normal.

Those pressures seem ok to me man. DO you have a FSM...I have all the links, I just need to edit the HTML code and add them to KAT. Guess I should just do that now.

I do have the FSM and I think it's fulla bull.

First descrepency: The cam duration. While it clearly depicts the Intake to be 248 on the diagram, the math doesn't add up. Use the remaining numbers to calculate and you find that it must be 240 to = 180* (half the rotation is depicted in the rest of the diagram).

So, that's the first typo.

I think the oil pressures are the second typo. The FSM says 11psi or above @ idle, 60-70psi @ 3000rpm. WTH??? That's crazy.

FWIW, I tossed the totally amazing and awesome super uber K&N oil filter, installed a Pure One Premium filter and I get 50psi @ cruise all day long. Stock pump, with about 130k miles on it now (yeah, I kept the stocker on my rebuild lol).
