Hi guys, so I've come to conclusion that NicoClub is one of the more mature forums when it comes to 240sx forums.
I was just wondering on what your guys' take would be on what I should do with the S14 I picked up awhile ago.
Here's the story, I picked it up as my first s-chassis early last year so I could enjoy it in the summer/have a ride for my summer job.
What my goals are/were: Track toy/daily/learning beater/missile

Here's the thing, when I was cleaning the car/taking things apart to clean I found what looked like a re-bar had been hacked out (in picture below) to make way for what was also a hacked in sunroof (not nissan OEM as I had later found out, also leaks on passenger side lol!) this is a concern for me since I wanted to track this car, so my advice is what is your take on what I should do with it? I've thought of a few things: parting out, selling it, keep it beat it while saving up for a cleaner car later on.

Condition of the car:
Body:6/10 (no major rust or rot, but sagging doors, flex and bs in the roof from sunroof/hacked out re-bar, cheap paint job from previous owners
Rails:8/10 clean!
Rockers:6.5/10 had been repaired before, and it's all curly at the pinch welds I think ? the very bottom part of the rockers

Good points:
-runs well
-condition of rails+rockers (decent for up here in Canada!)
-brake setup

Bad:
-Saggy doors
-hood needs re-aligning + paint
-mystery on mileage of engine + transmission
-for sure, it has a lot of mileage on the car
-no speed sensor or reverse light
-CEL light either doesn't work or has been pulled so no idea what kind of codes I could be throwing
-no odometer (stopped at 38xxx miles lol! and I'm the 8th owner)
-quarters don't have rust but looks like they've been repaired at one point.
-heat only works on FULL or OFF
-no A/C ...not really a problem I just open windows =P
-windshield defroster up front doesn't work
-no hi-beams
-no interior map light or dome light
-shows sign that it's been hit before (dent on rad support passenger side)
-11 year old Tein coilovers, rears are either leaking, seized or blown. I just know it's real bouncy in the rear.
-No speedo cause no sensor or speedo broke in cluster
-Windshield washer isn't hooked up
-Wiper amp I think is funk'd because it only works "OFF" or "Fastest setting" and turning it off is a bit of a game, it can get stuck if you don't time it right lol
-Engine bay is a mess
-Engine harness part of it is exposed
-no fender liners from the front-end kouki swap

Work I've had done/done:
-replaced starter
-replaced transmission (with another used one)
-replaced all the fluids (oil, transmission, diff)
-fresher Z32 calipers/brake setup all-around with EBC GD Rotors and Hawk HP+ Pads
-put in Z32 e-brake setup

Fix that stuff in ur "bad list" then do what YOU want. Everyone likes diffrent things, if you plan to build your car around what everyone else thinks is good your A. Going to end up with something you dont want/like and B. end up spending way to much money on stuff just because some one else likes it and its super jdm tyte!

Trust me do what makes you happy and f*** everyone elses opinion on it. There is not one thing in this game that can make everyone happy so build your car to be just that "your car"..

But since you asked, paint it carbon silver, navian kit, work svxx 18x10.5 -10 all around and slam it... Easy as that.

lol I'm not worried about rim choices, motor choices, suspension options , etc. I know what I want in a car, just not sure if I should try and go forward with THIS specific chassis because of the issues.

I was hoping to get more answers regarding the hacked out b-pillar re-bar , structural integrity issues, etc.

With the issues you listed, you have to consider where you would drive the car where things like that wouldn't matter...

like the track :) .
Personally, I'd fix the rear suspension, and start tracking the s*** out of it. Rip anything out that you don't want/need, buy a welder and fix any metal problems.

If you like the car a lot, add some forced induction and continue tracking.

Yeah, I wanted to track this car for sure but I'd also have to drive it to and from the track and most likely will be a daily, otherwise I wouldn't be concerned about the hi-beams, windshield washer/wiper issues, etc.

Right, that's my thought. Windshield wipers, no speedo, and no defroster (in Canada!) will probably get annoying very quickly. To and from the track probably wouldn't be a problem though.

lol turning off wipers is a game :) no speedo, I just follow the flow of traffic and I can roughly feel how fast I'm going and I'm sure we all have a general idea of how fast we're going at how many rpms in which gear lol. No defrost can be a pain, but I just coat the inside of all my glass with vinegar which sounds ghetto but actually works pretty well, smells for a day but I don't mind it, and if anything I could just get fog-x but I would like to fix it...one day haha. It's a good thing this is just a summer car .
