Hey! I got a Type X also! 12 inch. I am pulling it though from the trunk. It takes up TOO much space. plus it weighs too much, it's going back into my 4runner.

Get the eBay plates for the front and put Infinity Reference 6.5" coaxials up there and put some of the Reference 4x6 plates in the back. Sounddomain & Crutchfield too, have them on a pretty good sale right now bc the "new" models came out this yr. You could also get them off of eBay, but I wouldn't unless you see pics of them unopened.

When you pull the trim off back there you can see the plastic adapter from the factory that holds the 4x6. If you remove it the hole that is left looks like it will fit a 5x7 perfectly, or an adapter plate made for a 5.25" speaker. A 6x9 is probably gonna be too big, but if you can make it work that's cool. You can probably just trim the metal out to accommodate a 6x9, but without some sort of riser the speaker basket might get in the way of the molded carpet trim for the sides of the hatch.

If SQ is what you're after. Get the eBay plates for the front. Put in Infinity reference 6.5 components (they are on still on sale at Sounddomain and Crutchfield bc the new line is out), get an amp that will run 75W+ to them, cross them over @ ~80Hz, and don't even put speakers in the back. Speakers in the back degrade stereo SQ (bc you don't just have L&R you have front L, Back L, etc). Should compliment your subs nicely and sound really sweet.
