Wow, just wow. I'm now the proud owner of a 2002 Buick LeSabre. And yes, I DO have an AARP card! :ohno:

Jeeps are made of thick enough metal they can handle rust well. Wranglers rot from both sides so they get a bad wrap but Cherokees Grand Cherokees are indestructible. Just get the 4.0L.

*Off Topic* I recently learned that not all people are car people. When I said "I blew a transmission in my old car." they didn't think I meant transmission.

lol, been there. It might be a little better to use the term "trans", although I admit it's not much better...

They don't..they really don't. The only vehicles around here that don't show any signs of rot are Europeans, except for Mercedes Benz, and either Toyota (including Lexus.)

They may be thicker, but the quality of the steel and paint are lacking.

truth. when i was shopping for an all around useful vehicle after the s14 got totaled, i looked at a couple cherokees (with the 4.0), and they all had rust issues serious enough to cause concern. i'm sure it won't be a popular suggestion, but i put >40k on my 4.0 v6 explorer sport and it's still running strong. all i've done is tune-up (due for another one), 1 valve cover gasket, 1 injector (plus cleaning the others, done by a trusted shop), brakes, alternator, and battery. obviously maintenance items are done and i just put new tires on, but it's got 208k on the clock and it's showing no signs of quitting...yet.

I personally prefer trucks, ones that are high and can ride through extreme weather conditions. I like some space for lugging stuff too. I currently have a 2006 Frontier.
