a build/picture thread for one of our cleaner cars has recently seen a few semi-off topic posts in which members are sharing some of their s13 inspiration. i thought, "hey, that's a good idea for a thread."

so share your inspirational s13's here.

i personally find inspiration from greg and 94 (still don't remember your real name).

I find my inspiration, mechanically, from Dave Coleman's Project Silvia he did for Sport Compact Car many years ago.

Aesthetically, I let my own eye determine where I go, but I do have to say I nabbed the idea for my wheels from greg when he had the old Racing Hart wheels on his car (at least I think they were Racing Harts)

Don't think I have an 'inspiration' anymore. Just always like the Vert's so I got one, the rest is just what I know works/looks decent. I think I've actually been dealing with my 240s so long I've forgot all about the beginnings.

Edit: I did almost forget. I was slightly inspired by a friend's car that was also in SCC many years ago (just one pic in reader's rides). Loved that car. Then I now own it, so that's kinda crazy/ironic. Although its went downhill kinda.

I bought a vert because I thought it was unique and looked great. I didn't really know what I was getting myself into and I didn't really have a plan at first. When I joined this forum, that's when my vision started to take shape. Even though I haven't started working on my vert yet, I have to say that Greg, Mickey (aka 110octane), and Mr. 94 have inspired me the most. They've helped me see my vision even clearer. I thought a black on black vert would be badass before I saw Greg or Mickey's but after seeing theirs, it just solidified my thought of going that route even more. I'm going for an "evil" kind of look. 94 inspired me to be patient, to take my time, and to get things right the first time...basically go through everything with a very fine comb. He's like the "wise man" of the vert owners. Oh yeah I drew inspiration from Mike's (Ishkabibble) vert also.

Aside from verts, I have to say that Mike Gentile's S13 coupe was a great source of inspiration also. The amount of work he put into it amazed me...complete tear-down and rebuild, brand new wiring, etc. Just awesome.http://www.driftunit.com/profiles/genti ... .asp?id=62

I have the vision. I have the plans and everything. I just need the time and money. Lots of it.

Amen. 12+ years of a 240 and no boost has just about drove me insane.

For me, I'm inspired by some of the stuff that's been built by the great hotrod builders, like Chip Foose, and I try to incorporate some of those ideas in my car.

The GP Sports black hatch, and the red ClearCorners car are also sources of inspiration for me.

I initially wanted to do a "murdered out" vert (black everything), which is more attributable to my previous experience with vintage BMW motorcycles than anything. I ended up with a red vert out of circumstance. From there, I decided to go with the "Italian" (red and black) look.

Adrian's hatch is what caused me to get the Xenon lip. Greg's vert made me cut off the door pillars. atwatter's vert has the perfect stance (but I can't go that low in D.C.). 94_240sx's car is my model of structural rigidity. Anyone with an LS1 or VQ35 in their s13 has the right motor.

Just got brand new paint on my car which is green so it really stands out. I read all the way up to his final chapter in his story and it was really insperational. Got to get money to buy new tires, leather seats, and some new rims. THen i will be truley set.

It's a good question.. I am not really sure I could point my finger at one particular style or one particular car that is my inspiration.

Obviously there are some other 'verts out there that are incredible that I really like to emulate.. but not one in particular.

I'd say that I tend to try to be different than most.. I guess I'm going for unique. I have a style that I love, as does everyone.. hence personal taste. But my style tends to stay away from what's popular. I don't want many things on my car that you'll see on many other cars.

I wanted an import tuner style car, but didn't want to jump on the honda bandwagon, so I got a 240. I wanted a 240.. but didn't want to jump on the coupe or fastback bandwagon, so I got a convertible. I wanted an engine swap (turbo) but I didn't want to jump on the SR bandwagon, so I went RB.

Now I continue to differentiate myself from the rest.. Volk GT-P wheels that i've only seen on one other car in my life. silvia conversion that is rare on usdm 'verts. vertex body kit that i've only seen on two other 'verts (one in the US).

So, yeah.. I like to be just off of the mainstream.

i'll also add that i draw major inspiration from the far corners of the nissan/infiniti world. however, i don't want to share these inspirations for fear of someone else jumping on my ideas before i get a chance to do them... i'm hoping that my vert won't stand out too much when it's just cruising down the road; however, when you start to look at the details and get closer to the car, it will blow your mind.

it's going to cost me a lot of money and way more time, but the end result of my secrecy and hard work will reap rewards i'm sure.

don't feel bad that i don't want to share my ideas with you, my vert bretheren. the only people i've shared my "stage 4" goals with are my fellow TCE members and a few close nissan friends that i know are incapable of stealing my ideas... some of you guys, however, have the resources to do so.

I don't really want to think of my ideas as "inspired by (this or that)"

I greatly admire the work that Mickey and 94 have done. Especially Mickey since he has brought my initial plans to fruition, and I have to say, I was quite pissed the first time I saw it lol. Also, Greg's cover is sick, might have to cop that idea... unless he starts mass production

I had owned both a coupe and fastback before owning my vert, and since I loved the chassis, and have always been drawn to convertibles, so it was an easy decision when it came time to sell the coupe.

The R32 Skyline is my favorite Nissan product, and after doing my research and seeing how close the measurements were to an S13, knowing the chassis shared the same production years and seeing the conversion on hard tops, I figured it would be a great way to stand out and turn heads.

My admiration of the Skyline has impacted all of my plans for the car, with the final product being a "What Nissan should have produced." The exterior will be fully converted, still debating if RHD would be sensible, practical, and be able to be put in the budget. Power plant is between the RB25 and the VQ35 due to its the motor in the GT350 Skyline.

Finally, I have always been drawn to the VIP/EXE/LUX (recently named) styles of tuning. And since my car will be meant for cruising, and showing rather than track time, it is perfect tuning style for me. So I will be going clean kit, super low (maybe even air ride suspension!) and some super lipped wheels.

All of this when the budget/time provides (which isnt much lately hahahahaha)

lol! no, i'm just curious to know what other people are looking at. i honestly think that we have more projects and aspirations than most niconauts. why? i think it has something to do with the personality that's drawn to the vert.

you must be spying on me... you may have picked up on a thing or two if you've paid close attention to things i've said here in the vert forum. i appreciate the encouraging words.

it probably will take me a few years... but don't worry, when stuff starts coming together, my vert brothers and sisters will be in the know.

another reason i don't want to tell about my plans is because they're quite lofty - there's a possibility i might never get to them. i don't want to be a "ricer" talking about all the cool stuff i want to get for my sweet ride.

word. that's one thing that i used to want to do was the s14 kouki front end conversion, but since mickey and enjuku have both beat me to it... i don't know if i'm all that interested anymore. i still think it's the best s-chassis front end and may revisit the idea some day.

in the mean time, i assure you that my project thread will be revived very soon. i've got this ka sitting on the engine stand that is just begging for forged internals and a turbo charger...

Hey Dex and gang...Hmm... Inspiration?... 1) for buying the car... bought the car in 1999.. main reason for buying the Vert.. I owned a 97 Wrangler and hated all the work required to put the top down and the dealer I bought it from Mis-marked the car by 1000.00 bucks and I got it for 7500... which at the time I thought was a steal...2) Looks.. hmm.. I had a 78 Fiat 124 Spyder that I had done up back in the late 80's (sport suspension...Koni's I think.. Wide rims, air dam... four seater convertible...(the seed was planted). Looked a bit like this one[IMG][/IMG]Mine was Medium blue, black top and red interior. I always liked the 90's rally car look... white rims with solid car color... then saw a Silvia front end and loved the look.. I didn't see 94's car until last year, but already had decided to do white rims with white car. I loved the look when I saw his.. was kinda like getting a preview of what I wanted to do.. I was looking at Bee*R B5's in white and 17" (now they don't make them anymore in 17"). Saw the JUN fender flares and was reminded of my Fiat. So I have those going on as well... but still haven't settled on a body kit... That's my story and I stickin' to it..

My inspiration came from my long line of building custom cars and trucks, mostly classics. Then I got a job working for an aftermarket aerodynamics company and I was looking through some magazines on my lunch and saw the S13 Vert on the cover of the May 07 issue of Import Tuner

http://i180.photobucket.com/al...7.jpg

Then I found one on Autotrader for cheap and it didn't require too much work to get everything good on it and I really wanted a new daily driven project since my Ram gets 9.5 mpgs. From there I am following my instincts of building clean custom vehicles for the past 8 years and attending car shows for the past 7 years. IE: no amber on my lighting, nice wheel/tire combo, nice aggressive stance, some custom one off fabrication, clean engine/ engine bay, nice sounding exhaust, clean interior not using alligator skin, louie voutton/gucci material, and a million tv screens everywhere, no lambo doors, and just keeping the vert looking from all the others. I have a few tricks up my sleeves that will be initiated when I sell my Ram so I'll keep everyone posted on my progress.

I finally took these pics. These keep me inspired and informed pretty good. Yeah, other inspirations are nekopunch, stillensucks and sillbeer s13 build ups. I have more but just took what I have right next to my bed.

Other mags like motor trend, car and driver, automobile and road and track...etc.
