When I had my Y50, it was about 18.5 60/40 highway/city. But I like to rip on my cars. On the highway, if I babied it and drove like a senior, I could reach 24-25.

On my Y51 (V8), it's down to about 16.5 average and I can get it to about 22-23 on the highway.

I live in an area that is more stop than go. Lots of draw bridge delays, tourists driving slower than the limit to allow the passenger or driver to constantly point and say 'look at that!", etc. That said, I rarely ever get more than 15-16 mpg on every day driving out and about. However, on long treks using the motorways (freeways to you lot) I reach up to about 25 mpg.
The surprising thing about these posts where we report mpg is that the 4.5 and 5.6 engines, with all their power and super sexy performance do NOT get significantly less mpg than my run-o-the-mill 3.5 engine. Reminds me of that juice advert where they say: "Wow! I could have had a V8 !!!".

Coming from a honda accord, it took some getting use to with mpg drop. But the m is a hell of alot more fun to drive. I'll take that trade off.

Yea the m sucks down the gas, with the large gas tank and it wanting premium hurts. I just wanted to check with everyone to see if mine was in line with the norm.

Average with my 141,442 mile M45 Sport is 17.5 mpg. Cruising on the Interstate it gets about 24.4.

Just looked through my aCar Android app...as I keep track of all my fuel stops...here are my real stats for my 2011 V8 (M56x):

Ownership: 2yrs, 11mo
Miles driven: 64,055mi
Avg. MPG: 18.186
Min. MPG: 14.061
Last MPG: 19.338
Max MPG: 22.962
Avg $/gal: $2.76
Min $/gal: $2.29
Last $/gal: $3.14
Max $/gal: $4.39
$/mi: $0.152
$/day: $4.48
$/fuelup: $39.39
mi/$: 6.5664
Gal/fuelup: 14.29
Mi/fuelup: 259.2
Days/fuelup: 5.0
Gal/day: 2.86
Total: $4,805.29
Total Gal: 1,743.30
Cost of ownership/day: $28.52
Cost of ownership/mi: $0.478

My avg. mpg is better than I thought.

Car, including purchase price, has now cost me $30.5k (just gas and car price).

Some crazy numbers there...never thought we spend so much on gas, etc. :gapteeth:

Lucky if I get 14 mpg but I am heavy footed and mostly drive around town.
This car is not for you if you are worried about fuel mileage...
