You mean beside the LHD? Maybe that the all the controls are in English. I would think Japanese cars would have them in Japanese, if not little obvious diagrams.

Yeah, the LHD, MPH (versus KmPH) and all the text/lables are in English, so did someone import a non-JDM Q back into Japan ... does that mean we're ahead of the curve on the latest JDM trend ... USDM cars ??

I tghink those are some kind of "air fresheners" not cup holders, but nonetheless, they're hideous.

Yes in Japan they do have our G50 Q45, as well as FY33 and F50 counter-import from US Shore to Japan

And some Toyota guys put Lexus badges (as you know Lexus does not exist in Japan) on their Aristo (GS), Soarer (SC) and Altezza (IS) in Japan.

We always love JDM stuff, and Japan guys wants to get USDM stuff

Reminds me of the guy on the Caddy forums from Thailand with a Deville. I wonder where the hell he gets parts and service.

I'm curious, why is it that the early model Q45s didn't have any cupholders? Do the new models have them?

This is such a simple, but necessary, feature. You would think that for ~$50k you would get a god darn cupholder.

Well not for coffee. But right in front of the AC would cool your drink down.

Check out q45.org under tech help for cupholder info. The solution will run you $15-$30. There's also a few NICO threads I started on the subject.

The reason cupholders were never introduced, is because the Q is intended to be a driver's car. On the autobahn, the last thing you care about at 150mph is sipping your latte.

But of course here in the US, we're stuck in gridlock, so we entertain ourselves with beverages, satellite radio, and cell phones.

A lot of performance-oriented 80s/early 90s sedans excluded them, including every BMW that comes to mind. My Mazda 929s for example didn't have them, nor did my Mercedes 300. I walked into the parts counter at the MB dealer and asked about adding one, and they wanted $300 installed (but it was a matching leather cupholder, big freaking deal). The lady behind me overheard and commented "We sure do pay a premium for that three-pointed star."

I think [maybe] Volvo was the exception to the no-cupholder problem.

That is one of my fav's and that car has been around for a while now, guess they're having trouble selling it.

I saw quite a few LHD cars in Japan, and if I recall, the Benz's or BMW's (can't recall which) were all LHD. They also had Hummers and Jeep Cherokee's over there in LHD, as well as older Caddy's and Lincoln "low riders". So, yeah, as we love the JDM, they love the USDM. I actually picked up a sport compact magazine which had on the cover "Real USDM in JPN!".

Those are definitley cup holders but they look like they do have air freshner in them, and those brakes are truely "golden".
