every once in awhile when im driving my 240, and i go to come to a stop my rpm's will drop down real low(almost to zero) once or twice and then the car will just cut off, when i press the gas its fine but when i let back off of it it goes to cutoff so i have to ride my brake or put it in neutral sometimes so my car wont cut off. i took it to get it looked at by a mechanic up the road and they said they didnt know what was wrong with it because it didnt do it when he took it out and drove it(of course)so i dont know what to do about it, i tried putting fuel injector cleaner in it (about 50 dollars worth almost) hoping that s what was wrong with it but it didnt help.does anyone have any clue as to what the h$@# is wrong with my poor car?pease help

Could be the AAC valve. It also might just need the inexpensive charcoal canister element replaced. I had the same problem in my 89. hanging the element cured it for me. Good luck

Yea started her up today and she idled at 1900-2000 kinda strange... Then coming to a stop she hovers around 1-300 rpms and nearly dies. I put a intermediate filter and fic on her but nothing... I plan on replacing the intake anyway.

I don't remember how much I paid for the charcoal element. It wasn't very much. I do remember my mechanic didn't charge me any labor to replace it. Small item that made a big difference.

Dude mine did the same thing. do you have an aftermarket intake or anything? cause my filter had kinda slipped off and all of that air was messing up the air/fuel ratio. I'm pretty sure you're in the exact same situation.

Alright I gotta fix this... So it's definitely the aac valve needs replacing and maybe the hoses as well?

My new 89 240 did the same thing. Check the wiring around and on the MAF too, thats where mine had a problem. A little electrical tape fixed her up good!

Could be a vaccum leak. Cheak all your lines first berofe you go out and buy anything. My car did that too. It was just one of the vaccum lines had gotten old from the heat, and had a slight tiny crack that caused them to lose vaccum, and at redlights, unless you kept it revved up, it would die under regular idle. Try that first. Trust me. It would be a lot cheaper to replace a rubber hose, than anything else. Later.

Would the AAC valve cause it not to run, or not to stay running?
