What's wrong with my 240?

my friend just bought a 240 and somthing is wrong with it takes a long time to get hot but when he accelerates the engine shakes and it dosent get the speed right we check all the vacume lines and change the gas filter,gas pump, injectors and it still rattle when accelerating also the tachometer goes crazy and thats when it rattles and shuts off it sounds like an injector was not pluged in right but we have check everything so we really need serious help

I'd say the first thing you need to fix is your ability to communicate on an internet forum.

What motor? SR- Coilpack harness, KA-Distributor. Start there.

i had a similar problem like your friends,only mine was due to being in some rather deep water. got my dist. cap and rotor wet. and my mafs. Car ran like crap could not hold idle misfired like crazy when i stepped on it. Try replacing the cap and rotor it will only cost you like 25 bucks at the most for in total no real big loss if it wasnt the problem just means you have better spark.

did you pop the valve cover off?? the last time i checked my valve lash i forgot to tighten a ground on the back driver side and it ran like piss till i noticed that.Check your grounds.Have you also checked timing and or compression.

Did you check the MAF? Disconnect...if it runs the same, its bad.

I will say it might be the timing chain. Hopefully that's not the problem... Because timing chain is a b*tch to work on

Yes, the thing inside of the distributor cap is the rotor, it rotates and the metal pieces on the ends of it hit the metal inside the cap and start the chain of events. Have you checked it yet? I'd say just go ahead and replace it, even if it's not the problem this time it eliminates the possibility for ya and you won't have to worry about it anymore. Also, just give us an update- have you checked the spark plugs/ made sure the wires are connecting to the plugs and the cap?

everything is connected i havent tried the maf ..... ok this is the problem when the car turns on it stays on a little while. when you put it on drive the car shakes and if you dont give it gas it turns off. like if im driving it and i stop on a stop sign the car would shake and start to turn of so i have to put it on neutral and rev it up a while so it would go on, maybe to the next stop with out shuting off
