What's with the blue anti freeze?

looked under the hood in my '10 altima coupe and saw blue anti freeze and never even new there was such a thing. where can get it at, a good reasonable place to buy it and without paying a arm and a leg.

It's Genuine Nissan Long Life coolant; get it from the dealership. You can't mix other coolants and I don't think many others make the no silicate type.

Volkswagen has the same deal with their cars (i have a jetta, for now); its a speically manufactured antifreeze that is to only be used in their cars. according to them, no other coolant can go in or else you'll mess up the coolant system.

it's basically a car company's way of monopolizing as much as they can from the consumer by restricting them to only a limited amount of options when it comes to maintenance/reapiring; forcing you to buy their $25 antifreeze as appose to the $7 general one is one way of doing that.
