Man oh man! It seems that as of late, there is quite an influx of threads where people are having problems with their Versa. Aside from having my TPMS sensor reset and a bit of a mold smell when my AC is on I've been pretty lucky. Anyway, this is my first foreign car I've owned decided against buying American after having nothing but problems with my Grand Am. I though Toyota, Honda and Nissan had really good reliability, however, seeing all of these threads about problems with the V are making me a bit nervous. I have the S model with a 6 speed. Should I be worried?

Keep in mind, there aren't a lot of real active forums for other comparable vehicles...

Just because you see lots of threads about "issues", just means people are more involved and vocal - I don't think it represents that there's a greater propensity for issues.

You bought a great car, and you've found a great lpace to help you with any questions about it - Hope you stick around!!!

To be honest, I expected a heck of a lot more issues with this car. The new Honda Civic is not without flaws either... It's just new-model syndrome. Some vehicles will go for hundreds of thousands of trouble-free miles, while others (same make/model/year) will break down every 5 minutes; it's luck of the draw I guess.

Brand new model first year of production. ALWAYS a risk! There are issues.TPMS to start. Overrated mpg's.

Yeah, go buy a Prius, then complain to me about overrated MPG's.

My mother in law was disappointed when her Civic Hybrid ONLY got 40 mpg. Like that is such a shame compared to the Minivan she used to drive.

It does seem to be a luck of the draw thing, though. Unfortunately, I got smacked with one of those "issues" cars. Yet my wife's Tucson, also a first-year car purchased from the very first shipment from the manufacturer, only had a problem with the stereo head unit, and absolutely no problems since.

You have to remember that the majority of people do not come to forums like this to talk about how they haven't had a problem today. Most are here to either keep up with aftermarket or to ask a question about a problem that they are having. I haven't had one problem with my V yet that's required me to make a dealer visit. Just a few common problems you experience with all types of vehicles. I think if we polled all V owners, most of which are members of this forum yet, most will say they've had no to low amounts of complaints.

Aside the fact that I was hit in the passenger side by a moron who was dreaming while driving in the parking lot, and another problem with the hatch lock which suddenly refused to open and had to be replaced, I am very satisfied with my V. And on top of that, I started to get consistent 32-33 mpg, which makes me even happier.

Best time to get a car is the third release of any generation (I found this with hondas). First and second work out the bugs. Third release is usually when you get those special models with bigger motors or nice bodykits.

Last gen is the last horray and they just sell what they have left. lol.

I had a 2000 civic dx and loved it. It was the last release of the body and they equipped it with jdm headlights and taillights from the factory. Talk about a score.
