I'm looking for a 300zx TT and found a local listing for one but I'm not sure if it's worth the money or if the info on it is valid. I'm not going to say how much the owner is asking for it, I figured it would be better to just ask what people thought it was worth then say.

He has some photos of the car posted and it looks nice enough.

Here is what his ad says.

Code: Select all

Up for sale is my 1993 300zx twin turbo. Its is pearl white in color. mods include Jim Wolfe chip, electronic boost control, no cats, upgraded ss exhaust. Timing belt and water pump have just been changed along with all other belts and idler pullies. Most hoses have been changed or upgraded. This is a very fast car and no test rides will be given to anyone under 21 years of age without a parent.... NO JOY RIDERS...THIS IS A 20 YEAR OLD CAR AND IS BEING SOLD AS IS FOR THIS REASON-----i have only changed the oil and used mobil 1 synthetic as long as i have owned and previous owner states the same. This car does show normal wear and tear for a 20 year old vehicle but is in good condition, their are 2 noticeable dents on driver door and rear quarter....NO SPAMMERS OR s*** PHONE CALLS SERIOUS INQUIRES ONLY...... can send additional photos if request... XXX-XXX-XXXX just above 100k miles..... vehicle is an automatic.......Engine was replaced by previous owner with a jdm-- new engine has approximately 40k miles but i have no documentation on this......car shifts smooth and accelerates hard..... turbos spool up to 15psi with no hesitation...... NOT INTERESTED IN TRADES.................
Now coming from a 2002 WRX I know there is limitations to how much boost the stock turbo can supply before it just starts breathing hot air down the pipes. Given that the stock boost on the 300zx is 9.8psi (might be wrong) is 15psi ok for the stock turbos?

1. Welcome
2. I had a Bugeye for few years, awesome cars.
3. JDM ENGINE RED LIGHT!!!!!!
4. Best way to know what its worth is either find someone who knows Zs and take them with you to look or find a Z mechanic and take it there. I personally wouldn't buy a Z32 with a JDM engine.

Also higher than 14psi on stock turbos is hot air (so no performance gain, just knock)

+1 to the above...automatic jdm with mods and probably boost jets= no freakin' way, not worth visiting.
You can find better cars than this.

My thoughts exactly.

Welcome to NICO!

The biggest problem is that he is running that much boost. :tisk:
