Hey guys, just curious why threads get locked? I searched for "locked thread", and found two matches, but both didn't say why they get locked. Obviously this is done by a moderator. Just wondering anyway, because I noticed that the "lighting kill switch" thread is now locked. Is that simply because having a lighting kill switch is a very unsafe idea that could cause accidents, hurting innocent people? I honestly don't care that this thread was locked, but I'd just like to know why.

Thanks in advance! <<<

Good question...

Usually it's because a thread or post violates the User Agreement, but I can't imagine that one did...

Link up the locked thread, maybe we can figure it out.

Wow, that was a quick reply, thanks. This is the locked thread that I was curious about.

Just for the record, I'm not saying this thread should or shouldn't be locked, nor am I passing judgement upon the individual that locked it. I'm simply wondering why. I suppose I should take closer look at the user agreement.

Thanks again for your response AZhitman.

Him dumass was called once or twice, maybe it was just stopped in fear of retaliation.I've thought about doing the kill switch for brake lights, but my luck it would go bad and I'd get rear-ended and it would be my fault.

I was wondering about that. If you read my first post in that thread, I used that word in response to the attatched quote. I shouldn't have I suppose, but at that moment I thought the patronizing quote was out of line, especially since he had his facts wrong, and deserved a smart answer.

But if that's why it was locked, in my defence, I've seen people get more dis-respectful here without getting locked.

The bottom line is I'd just like to know why that thread was locked, because I really love this site, and wish to better understand it.

Thanks again

This one's obviously a no-brainer to anyone.

and this one...

This is simply childish. An is in my opinion the sort of thing that should be and possibly .

I locked that one. it was going downhill fast and with the rolling downhill, more names will be called, more aggressive posturing and so forth. Hence the lock.

Normally you lock threads so the bolts don't back out any. They sell many different brands of threadlocker at auto stores.

You are either joking, or you replied to my post without reading it.
