'03 Q. I can read the manual and I see 20 7/8 as rated capacity and it seems like I've also seen 20.5, but close enough. But what's the maximum real world fill up? I saw 16.7 a couple of times on vacation just after the warning light came on, but I'm wondering just how low I can run it? I've had cars that I put more in than the rated capacity (carb'd I think which was less sensitive) and others where it would start to sputter going around corners with 2.5 left in the tank.

My son confirmed he was able to put in just over 20 gal, pretty close to the book. His gas gauge doesn't work. He lost track once and it started sputtering as he pulled up to the pump.

Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping for a little more to get a consensus, but I'll take what I can get. Looks like I've got some room once the light comes on.

Most I've ever put in is in the mid to high 19's. Before my mileage got bad I would go 50-60 miles after the light came on and usually put in about 18.5.

The fuel tank capacity is 21.1 Gallons for r50 Pathfinders and Qx4s.

In my 04 Pathfinder I usually put in 15.5-16.2 within 20 miles of the light coming on. I think I remember reading on here somewhere once that you have a reserve of about 5 gallons when the light comes on or the needle reaches E. Some people report driving an additional 100 miles and only putting in 20 or so gallons. From the posts I've read, on that last half gallon to a gallon it starts sputtering.

You shouldn't let it get that low if you can help it. It can burn up the fuel pump and cause lots of other issues.
