what's the IACV??

someone told me that could be messed up in my car that's why it doesnt turn on when is cold unless i hit the gas whaats the IACV and where is located? what does it do??

Idle air control valve.

Located on your intake mani, it's responsible for ensuring enough air gets into the engine to allow it to idle when the throttle plate is closed.

It can get gummed up with residue...

where is IACV located? how do i take it out so i can clean it or replace it??can that make my 240 take a while to turn on??

It is on the inside of the curve on the upper intake manifold in the rear. It is right next to the EGR and other solenoids in the rear. I found that its easiest to remove the whole intake manifold and why your at it remove the egr and block it off. The IAVC can make it run bad, but you could have a number of problems.

block off plate...check out ebay....10 bucks or get sloppy and make your own.

so what do you think that can make my car crank forever before it turns on?? i checked fuel presure from the tank to the fuel fileter is good i changed fuel filter, cap and rotor checked spark is good i also changed spark plug cables everything seems to be fine but my car is just not turning on it just seats and crank forever and then after a while turns on oh and it happens when is cold

Do this:

Remove TB and clean it well. There's a tiny hole right where the butterfly closes, if it gets clogged it can cause problems. Use lots of carb cleaner.

Come back and we'll go to step 2.

allright boss i did take the tb cleaned i also cleaned the manifold with carburetor cleaner i cleaned also the fuel injectorsand the lines (i went to jiffy lube for that) they pump a fule systme cleaner in your in your brake booster now the car feels wayt better and it runs a lil faster but i'm still having the same problem my car cranks forever and when it turns on it idles really weak whats the step number 2??
