Hi Folks,

Trying to track down a problem with my inlaw's 2001 Infiniti I-30

Great car, but it's simply dead every time they go out and try and start it. It's had several new batteries just this year. Dealer says they need to drive the car more. They drive it about once every 2 weeks.

here's the thing -- it has a draw of 180ma with everything turned off, key out, doors closed, etc. To me that seems to high -- comments? I did the same draw test on our lexus es300 and I get 20ma.

The draw is on fuse #13 (120ma) and fuse #12 (60ma). I have a print out from the dealer on what these fuses protect -- I'll dig it up, some of it I didn't understand but seems to be lights, interior lights, various memories (ac?) turn signals, etc.

So -- what should the draw be on this car? Does 180ma sound too high?

What should I look for to fix? I've checked for burned light bulbs...visors, doors, interior and trunk, tail lights, they are all fine. Seat memory is fine, seat motors work fine. I've heard possibly seat motors and stereo amps... how would I easily disconnect to test?

Also, where can I find a good manual with wiring diagrams? Dealer CD was $300 and seems overkill for this.

Lastly, can you recommend any good independent nissan/infiniti mechanics in the San Fernando Valley around Woodland Hills? (where the car is) Sort of "west of the 405" would be good.

Thanks, glad I found this forum, it looks good. And I'll search around for info later

Fred

I can't really help you on the draw, but here is a link to the electrical section of the FSM for the 01 I30. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/i30/2001/el.pdf

Wow, that's fantastic Scott! Thank you. I need to study that.

So does anybody have an answer for me? The dealer said there isn't a factory spec for draw when the car is turned off. But one Infiniti mechanic said he's seen a lot of I-30s drawing 120ma with key off, and that 180ma sounded a bit high.

Our 2001 I-30 draws 180ma with key off -- I tested our Lexus ES300 and it draws only 20ma with key off.

Anybody have more data on or experience with this?

Thanks,

Fred
