What's the difference between S13 and S14 diff.???

I know the S14 diff will fit in the S13, but will it be worth it?? I mean is it any way better than the S13?? Just looking for a cheap upgrade to get better traction. Or are there any other diff that will fit the S13 but are better then the one in the S13??

You're looking for a VLSD differential... and not all S14's had them.

There are mounting differences between the two diffs as well.

I thought the S13's came with the VLSD?? if not what do they come with?? is the VLSD better then the LSD?? I don't know much about diff. so that's why all these Q's.....

S13's came with VLSD and Open Diff. The fastbacks with Super HICAS came with VLSDs while the other s13's have open diffs.

LSD = Limited Slip Differential

VLSD = Viscous Limited Slip Differential

They are inheriantly the same, the difference is mearly semantics as far as USDM differentials are concerned.

Nissan only used the viscous type of LSD in USDM R200's (Your differential = R200) It's called an R200 because of it's 200mm diameter ring gear.

ok thanks for clearing that up.. so which diff will be the best upgrade?? no aftermarket diff just OEM ones that will fit the S13.. I want a 2 way but those are very pricey and welding is another option but that would put too much stress on my axles...
