i don't know how many of you have been keeping up on my project log (found here), but i've run into a bit of situation... nothing major, just something i'm trying to figure out.
i did the "hot cam" swap last night and something i neglected to double check was whether or not my cams are indeed the 240/248 as i was hoping. see, our verts are kind of like the bastard step kids of the s-chassis because they're very much in-between production of the s13 and the s14. from what i gathered on the cam thread (found here), late s13's and early s14's had a lot of parts mixed up including the intake manifold and the cams.
i'll explain...the s13 ka should have vaccum actived secondary valves in the runners of the intake manifold and a set of 240/248 cams. the s14 ka should not have secondary valves and a pair of 232 cams. from what i've gathered. the 93 ka started having the intake manifolds without the secondary valves and some goofy cam combos including 240/232 and the 232/232 in addition to the 240/248. then some 95's used the s13 head design... so they probably have some goofy cam combos as well.
well, my 93 vert has the secondary runner valves in the intake manifold. i also believe it has the 240/248 cams. but i'm not really certain. also, the original intake manifold from my other vert has the same secondary valves. supposedly the FSMs are foggy regarding cam profiles after 92... possibly because they just didn't know.
i guess i'm just tossing this information out there and looking to see what you guys think. i need to double check the actual production date on my verts are to see if they were made in 92 or what. perhaps that will help with this. i'll share any other information i come across.
hey 94 guys, do you have the vaccum activated secondary valves in your intakes too? do you guys know anything about your cam profiles?
