There's no... trick, really. You rotate the cam so you line up the alignment pin with the notch in the gear, and then you just shove it back on. You may have to wiggle the cam around a bit to get the pin to go in just right. It's a very tight fit.

Just a question, is the cam and chain already in the car, did you unbolt it and now want to slap it straight on?

Is it possible to do with the tensioner active?

If it's throwing a code for your cam angle sensor, then your cam angle sensor is probably malfunctioning....

HMMM. Well, I have been banging on the distributor a little bit... I put the cams in correctly.. just like on JWT writeup.. the dots are in the same exact places. The first thing I thought about this morning when I opened my eyes was my engine. I may go back to my car today (it's at my dad's house) , clear the codes and check them again.. If the CAS is not working then.... how could my car know when to fire, hah! I will see.. thank all of you for your responses.

Wait.. you have a KA... KAs don't have cam angle sensors... they only have a crank angle sensor which is in the distributor. If you've been hitting the distributor with a hammer, you probably messed it up. You shouldn't need a hammer to get it in. It will be very hard to put in unless the pinion gears are lined up, and if you've had the distributor in and out without resetting or even checking the timing and have been hitting it with a hammer, chances are you'll need a timing light AND a new distributor.

Like I said in the other thread, if this is the car with 4 unplugged holes in the intake manifold, then that's your problem. You need to seal those holes.

So i'm guessing the vacuum leak was the problem? Your distributor was probably off, too, from R&Ring it so much.

If the camshafts are interchangeable then I guess the cams might be as well.

The distributor is the CAS. It is not a distributor because it tells the ECU when to inject. It uses a very fragile optical tone wheel and sensor to do this, so I hope you didn't damage the sensor.
