with a fresh rebuild..you should run the motor for about 2 hours..then dump all fluids..even the radiator fluid...after a rebuild you may have excess junk trapped in the system....dont forget to dump the filters as well...for the first 2000miles..use NON synthetic oils..to break things in..chepo oil works best...i have a habit of changing my oil several times throu out a break in..just to be safe..after your all broke in..then i would change to a more engine sustaining oils like torco, redline, royalpurple,or what ever floats your boat...but..i donot recomend the crap synthetics offered at say hellmart..some are a blend of recycled products..stick with the best and you will enjoy your ride for years.

Pretty much on the money here...

Also after changing that first set of oil and filters after your build...Crack open your oil filter to see if there is any small or large fragments of metal. If so, something went wrong and you should not drive it till the problem is corrected.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR!

Check the oil pressure if possible and await further instruction...

Just make sure that hte oil is petrolium based NOT parifin based. I have seen some REALLY cheap stuff that is parifin based.

this is a good idea ..but..small pieces of metal may not mean catastrophic falure..it might be remaining peieces of debris if ya had engine work done..thats why i sugested to dump all fluids after a couple hours..if your hearing a ticking in your engine...you may have a few things happening..if your a ka24E modle..it could be lifters tapping...if your the DE modle..your timing might be off a few teeth and you might be slapping the pistons with your valves....or you might have not ajusted your lash corectly..we do need more info on the tapping sound...do some more investigation and get back to us.
