We took a road trip to Oakland, which is approx. 380 miles from the part of LA I stay in, we have an '06 SL, cruised all the way up there doing about 70MPH and achieved 425 or so miles to the tank, i will update these numbers for the return tank as soon as I fill the tank again, which should be in a few days....

I commute about 50 miles round trip per day in San Antonio, which has good traffic- very few backups. So I can use cruise both ways if I want. Once at a cruising speed, I average 28-29 if I maintain a constant speed. About half of the trip has rolling hills. When I add in the 5-6 miles of stop and go either way, it comes down to around 24-25 over the course of the month.

But... if my wife gets a hold of it on the weekends and drives around town with the kids (she has a little bit of a lead foot), it drops to 21-22 overall. Still pretty good, considering the EPA estimate is 19 combined.

I have an 09 SL

I drive about 200+ kms almost daily, mostly hi-way. Have always gotten decent mileage out of the Maxima.Hoping I can do the same with the 09 Murano when I get it at the end of Sept.I'm sure mileage will be down from the Maxima but if I can get close to 30mpg, i'll be happy.I will update this post once I get some miles on it.

Best tank has been 26 in an '07 AWD. Average is around 19 in town on Oxygenated gas with ether in it (stuff delivers terrible mileage in the name of better emissions)

09 LE with about 2.5k on it. Overall average right at 21. We're pleased so far.

ANYone getting close to 30 on ANY MO would be thrilled. They would also be calling Ripley.

Don't get your hopes up, Mac. Just hope you get the average of 19-21 MPG most here have reported, and not the low to mid-teens some claim to be getting.

I typically get about 24-26 on the highway, and I'm thrilled with that!I do have a portion of my drive that is construction, and I always seem to get 30 mpg. I supposed going 55 would do that though...

On pure highway, long hauls we're seeing the same, about 24 to 26 depending on how many mountains were climbing here in the Pacific Northwest. I have seen a high of 29 on one trip, but that was only one tankfull and when averaged for that jaunt, it came down to a little over 26 for the round trip. Not bad mileage for a relatively heavy 'Cute Ute'.

I am very skeptical of anyone who claims they consistently get 25mpg or better on their 2009 Murano. I even have a harder time believing those who claim upper 20's to possibly 30mpg.

The reason for this is because I own a 2009 Murano LE and have tracked EVERY SINGLE tank of gas since I bought it brand new almost 18 months ago. I have over 15K miles and have driven in almost every conceivable driving scenario: Interstate Cross-country, City, Stop-n-Go, Mixed, State Highways, etc... In addition, I have done this in weather ranging from single digits and snowy to 90's and humid. I have also experimented with different driving styles and also climate control. Most every tank is 93 octane gas, but I've also used 89 at times.

The results? The very best I ever gotten was 480 miles to a tank and on a pure 3 state interstate haul with the cruise control set at 72mph. That equated to 24.8mpg (I use both manual and system calculation). MOST of my highway MPG falls in the 22 to 23 range and city anywhere from 18 to 20. My regular driving with mixed conditions usually puts the MPG at 20 to 22mpg.

I just find it tough to see people saying they are getting 27, 28mpg when I basically have found it impossible to acheive that in mine, even when trying experimenting with "hypermiling" techniques.

Musky300: I see about the same milage as you...maybe a tad higher. I've never seen anything below 19 and my overall average is about 21.5. However one thing I've been meaning to do is check the accuracy of the computer by performing manual calculation on a few tanks. Have you seen much difference between the two?

2009 SL AWD, 14,823 miles using premium fuel, average MPG 20.9 I have a hard time believing even mid-20s unless purely highway on flat geography with cruise control set a 55 mph.

High teens to low 20's I'd say is average for all Mo's. Some may get a tad higher or lower once in a while, but low teens (or below) or high 20's is definitely ABnormal.

Variance at most between manual calculation and the onboard computer is +/- 5%...fairly close in my opinion.

I've been doing manual to check against the onboard calculations and ours has been surprisingly close. I'd say we are within about 2% so far. I'm not used to seeing this kind of accuracy with the onboard systems.

Ok...I just did the math on my tracking spreadsheet to determine the average variance between the onboard computer MPG estimate and my manual calculations.

On nearly 50 tanks of gas I have filled-up, the average variance is +2.16%...i.e...the computer reads a little over 2% higher than calculated. On a calculated 20mpg...this means the computer would show 20.4mpg...a negligible difference and pretty darn accurate anyway you look at it.

Saw the mpg post and thought I'd see what the economy cars are getting.

I have a 2002 Infiniti Q45 sport w/180,000 miles. 255x45x18 kuhmo ecstas on factory rims. I get 25+ mpg on a 300 mile road trip last week. I will also admit that I don't dog it ... .I usually set the cc at about 3-5 over the posted limit.

THere seems to be a sweet spot in the turque curve at about 69-71mph. at 75 mph, the mpg drops to about 21mpg.

You have to admit, that's impressive accuracy for on-board systems. Our GS is off about 12%, and our IS was off closer to 15%. I'm finding the Nissan to be a well screwed together vehicle and I continue to be impressed with the elcectronics.
