Howdy,

I got a new 2009 Altima 2.5S a few days ago. I tried to get the stock cd player to play mp3 cdrs. I experimented with burning different disks. Each time, I didn't start the car engine, but pushed the start button to the ACC position and when I am done, pushed the start button to the ON and again to OFF. When the car transitions to the ON state, I can hear a few seconds hum/whining noise coming from the rear of the car. (The car's engine is off) This noise is very evident if you sit in the front passenger's seat and leave the door open while you push start button to get into the ON position.

Anyone know what this sound is and if this is normal?

ps. I guess the stock CD (non bose) doesn't support mp3s even though I can see the MP3 and WMA silkscreening on the LCD display. The manual seems to indicate that mp3s are supported though.

My car makes the same noise. I believe it is the electric fuel pump that we are hearing.

Nothing to worry about.

The whine is the fuel pump, the ticks I'm not sure what they are but its normal.

Only the Bose head-units support MP3 CD's all the head-units have the same LCD panel though, thats why you can see it there along with the 1-6 cd's too for the changer that isn't there.
