Hey guys, I need some help. I need to know what's really in need of replacement if i were to run about 22-25 pounds of boost. I'm looking at Greddy's new GT series of turbos. But i want to know what needs to be replaced. Obivously, the pistons, rods, etc. etc. Thanks in advance.:help

Assuming you're talking about engine internals, for 25 psi a KA will need only the following in order to survive:

Forged, lower-compression (i.e. 9.0:1 or 8.5:1) pistons

Better head gasket (I'd recommend a Cometic MLS)

ARP rod bolts for the stock rods (Supposedly the Nissan L20 bolts.)

Those are the real weak points of the KA, so if you replace those, you'll be good to go up to around 400 whp.

i would invest in some rods for 400rwhp at so much boost. stock rods are a little too skinny to me. why go cheap then have to rebuild agian

Giving us a hp goal would be easier then a boost number. Cause you can run 25 lbs of boost on stock internals if you retard your timing 3 degree's per lb of boost and run methonal. But I doubt thats what your gonna do.

I'm sorry guys, I'm looking for a goal of 475 to 500 hp. but if possible off pump gas of 93 or 94. I know the bottom end will probably need to be replaced. I'm looking for a great project to do over the next couple of months to a year to build.thx everyone

If you want to work that on pump gas, you may want to look into alchy/water injection. I'm sure WD would be happy to tell you more about it if you're not familiar already. What size turbo are you looking at?

You'll need a large turbo, a bottom end rebuild/balance/lighten, cams, head port and fuel/ignition management.

thx for the reply's. I starting the build up in probably a month or two from now. I'm trying to find out what I don't need and what I do. I've looked at ka24de.com and was wondering if I really need all the parts that they are offering.

depending on the mileage and shape of the engine, id recommend replacing bearings and seals too since youre already gonna be in there
