I have a question, but first a little back story.

I'm doing an S14 SR20 swap into an S14. I'm putting together my own oil filter relocation kit. I'm also going to run an oil pressure gauge and an oil temperature gauge. I have two available taps on my oil block adapter - one for each gauge's sensor. This leaves me with no place for the oil pressure switch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only function of the oil pressure switch is to turn on a light in the gauge cluster on low oil pressure, right? Since I'm going to have two gauges for monitoring the oil system, I don't see the point in keeping the oil pressure switch. If I don't install the sensor and leave the plug dangling, am I going to get any CEL's or is the oil light going to constantly be on? If so, will grounding the switch keep it from activating the warnings? More specifically, in normal operating conditions is this switch open or closed and does 12v close or open the switch?

Thanks for your help.

Your dummy light stops working. That's it. The switch lights up the light at 8 PSI if I remember correctly.

Yea, if you have a pressure gauge, there's no need for the dummy light. Leaving it unhooked will leave it off. The switch is a normally closed switch that provides a ground path when the oil pressure is low. If it's not there, there is no connection and the light never comes on.
