We have had two non-tax payers (Daschle and Killefer) pull out and one stay in (Geithner). We've had Bill Richardson pull out due to scandal and there are the issues with the lobbyists (Lynn, Corr and others) that have been given a pass even though Obama stated numerous times that lobbyists would have no place in his administration.

Why is Obama having such a tough time picking and vetting his staff?

Because he picked from the same batch of corrupt politicians that have been running Washington for years. Is that the change I'm supposed to be waiting for?

Dunno but others may be asking the same question. His approval rating has dropped from a high of 69% to 65% while his disapproval rating has jumped from 12% to 20%. The last thing his supporters expected was all this "scandal" within the first few weeks.

The quote of the year comes from Jim DeMint (SC) that said, ":Liberals don't mind raising people's taxes, because they themselves don't pay them."

And I thought it was only rich fat cat Republicans that dodged their taxes.... Could it be the party that thinks its "Patriotic" to pay more taxes, has a tax problem too?

I've been wondering if someone was going to pick up on this issue and run with it. I'm sure a lot of the left leaners on here were hoping it had somehow flown beneath the radar and no one would mention it all.

I find it a little odd that P-BO only termed the Dashcle pick as a mistake after Daschle withdrew from the position. Odder still is that Geithner, while guilty of the same crimes (I won't use the term offense as it smacks of someone attempting to gloss over the truth of the matter) as Daschle is not "a mistake" and still holds his position - ironically enough overseeing an organization who's laws he chose to ignore.

I bet Charlie Rangel is happy that the heat is off him, for the time being anyway.

The heat has just been turned up a notch for Rangel as a Republican has filed for him to be removed while he is being investigated. I don't understand the foot dragging in that case either.

As far as this being brought up, I don't know why it had not been mentioned before. I remember last year, anytime a Republican had something come up in the news, Telco was posting it immediately to show how horrible the GOP is and how wonderful the Dem leaders are. Now the Dems can't even get through filling the cabinet without multiple scandals being brought out.

Don't be a hatemonger. I'm sure he will do some good in the next 8 years, and you will go out of your way to convince the Obama-bashers of the good he did because you always try to understand both sides of any issue.

Meh. The Republicans are in the doghouse and Obama has a silver tongue.

And hardly anyone expected Bush to have a second term. Obama has been in office for a couple weeks and he's already pissed off a lot of people. He has a lot of promises to live up to. He set the bar very high for himself in the campaign. If he falls short of that mark, don't expect the American people to be very forgiving.

Over the years, I've become convinced that the general public votes for the more charismatic candidate and overlooks pretty much everything else. Obama is saturated with charisma. So we'll see.

Also, Obama has shown that he is an extremely adept politician. He's come a long way in a very short amount of time; rising pretty much as fast as possible through the system. My money is on a second term unless something extremely bad happens.

Obama has shown that he can give a passionate speech. Time will tell on the rest. I'm actually starting to see some negative viewpoints on him via the media and it will be interesting to see what happens when the media no longer views him as their Golden Boy.

So, Obama brought in Judd Gregg to head the Commerce Department. The Census Bureau is part of the Commerce Department and cencus has historically been important as it is used to re-appoint congressional districts and determine federal funding. Guess Obama could not stand the thought of a Republican having the responsibility of the Census Bureau and has stated that the Director of the Census would now report directly to the White House (probably Rahm Emanual).

Looks like Obama now needs a new Commerce Secretary as Judd Gregg just withdrew himself for consideration. The beginning of the announcement is:

Sen. Gregg stated, “I want to thank the President for nominating me to serve in his Cabinet as Secretary of Commerce. This was a great honor, and I had felt that I could bring some views and ideas that would assist him in governing during this difficult time. I especially admire his willingness to reach across the aisle.

“However, it has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me. Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.

“Obviously the President requires a team that is fully supportive of all his initiatives."

It's very difficult to try and find a qualified Republican.

Probably. It takes a lot to be as corrupt as the Democratic party is. How many scandals have there been since the coming of the big O?
