Cooked with my friend Jim tonight and had a bunch of friends over. We made chicken and bean fajitas (since Emma and I are/becoming vegetarians). Also made guacamoli and cocktails.

What are you folks having/had?

umm, grilled cheeze, and a power bar

vegitables kick ***, and soy beans, a miracle plant, you can make fuel out of them, hamgaburs, and milk , they are amazing if you think about it

im done talking now...

I actually haven't had a steak in over 3 years. I don't eat red meat unless it's ground, i.e. burgers and sausages. And even then it's VERY sporadic.

It doesn't taste good to me anymore, it's fattening and unhealthy, and less resources are needed to produce veggies than it does to raise cattle for meat. And you don't have to slaughter vegetables. If you can't eat something raw without getting sick, then it probably shouldn't be eaten.

Unfortunately, all the guys I know are carnivores so I still cook meat for them... I just choose not to eat it.

D'oh. I had no clue. You're a guy so I just assume that you eat meat. :p

I actually have a question - what is the recommended daily protein intake? And do you take protein or multi - vitamin pills to compensate for the possible lack of nutrition?

I've been subsituting meats with beans/eggs and lots of green fiber filled veggies but I have ultimate practice for 2 hrs a day which entails a lot of sprinting and i don't want to lose my muscles.

thanks

it takes like 10 times the resources to get a cow then it does to make vegitables

protien - 50g/day, thats what the power bar is for

I just don't eat any animal products, so i guess ima vegan. I don’t take vitamin pills I just eat.Since I come from a very carnivorous family, my parents had this crazy idea of putting me on a vegediet since i can remember anything. Soy milk actually exceeds in all of the vitamins vs. milk except vitamin D which idk what it’s for... I don’t eat eggs either. If you have the correct vegetarian diet you shouldn't suffer from malnutrition, after all our ancestors were vegetarians first I think, they didn’t turn carnivorous till later when they learned to kill animals ha-ha. Beans are a good source for protein. If you want to play it safe you could take vitamin capsules.

heres a link to a good diet if it helps: http://www.scottishsport.co.uk/running/veggie.htm

you do know that taco bell uses USDA grade D meat, the same meat used in prisons, in fact, its the lowest quality meat allowed to be served, exept for canning meat (sphageti'os and spam and stuff) but that doesnt count as meat, its more like poison

Long answer: my house sucks and is devoid of food. I was going to make some Ragu Pasta stuff.. but we are out of it, and just about everything else. Bachelor life = suck.

Short Answer: Doritos

I'm probably gunna gnaw on some raw bacon later too.

Now I must admit, I like a good salad too, but **** like that is just not a meal. They belong as the side dish to my 21oz Porterhouse steak, cooked medium rare.

Any diet that requires you to take pills to fill its glaring deficiencies is illogical to me

Anyway, I had spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner. That really slowed me down when we were playin racquetball later though

PS I make killer Chicken Parmesean (thanks to my mom's recipe). Cooking isn't that hard unless you make something incredibly complex. I'm just too lazy to cook a big meal for only myself.

Righ on on both of those comments. I couldn't justify cutting something from my diet and having to take pills to make up for the deficiencies, just seems so illogical... Plus, I love meat when it's done right.

Tonight, I had two microwave burritos and a few glasses of water. I didn't just cook them in the microwave though, I go as far as to toss them in the toaster oven when they are done in the microwave to crisp them up a bit, I'm a real chef. I can actually cook really well, and do...when I have people over. I don't cook for myself beyond ramen, burritos, mac and cheese, and occasionally spaghetti, the motivation just isn't there.
