Hey guys,

Normally I wouldn't post something like this up but I feel like everyone should know. This guy gave a thrashing to all A/C owners if you take offense to what he said.

So I went to the gym with my friend today and his other friend happened to be there as well. We talked about random stuff and suddenly got on a car topic. He drives a modded RX-8, I saw his car before heading home. He has a catback exhaust, maybe an intake, fat tires with maybe 20in chrome rims with some black. Anyways, he was bragging that he had some stuff done to it lately to my friend and I entered myself into the talk. I told him I drove an Altima coupe 3.5 and before I could name off any mods, the dude shot me down and said "THAT'S A CHICK CAR MAN!" Hmmm. How do I respond to that? I simply said, it's a unisex car, what's wrong with that? He just said I needed to get a RWD platform car. Keep in mind this guy knew nothing about me and he's talking like this. Something about being at the gym and testosterone that brings out the cockyness of every guy. So I just agreed with him because I don't really take offense to someone calling my car a "chicks" car (mature status  ). So to wrap it up, he said he'll race me if I ever head down to the track again and show me just how much a RWD car can crush a FWD "chicks" car.

Question: What is everyone's take on this? Do I have what it takes with the mods on my sig to take this guy out? Should I even acknowledge this call-out or turn the other cheek because I'll murder him?

All aboard the LOLLER COASTER!!!

I understand the argument about RWD vs. FWD (it is better), but when you've only got 140lb-ft of torque to work with, you should really reconsider when your FWD competition is rocking 100 more lb-ft than you are, stock for stock.

He has giant stupid heavy 20" wheels and about 10 WHP in mods. As long as it is on a track, take his goofy a** to poundtown and wait for the excuses.

Then you can tell him he bought a RWD CHICK CAR MANNNNNNNNN.

mmmmmmmmm 210 HP or so... you got 270.... we weigh 300 lbs more or so... but considering hes got chrome wheels and less torque.. i would say you can pound him fairly well..... Considering hes all about the "looks" of things, Im going to assume that his "mods" is equivalent to some heavy spoiler and some fiberglass look at me pretty bits. Anyone can slap on an exhaust and K&N... Hes probably going to skid abit too since hes got something to prove. Just try it and let us know since you dont take real offense, and when he breathes in your exhaust just smile and keep it on record.

EDIT :: Personally think the RX8 looks more like a chick car then anything to be honest...

you'll smash him. i raced my friends rx8, its completely stock but regardless. bolt ons on a rx8 aren't gonna help much, they're slow cars. not saying the a/c is fast though... it's just quick.

If you have a good run, you'll win 95%, heck, I would probably be able to keep up with him pretty good If he knew anything about driving lol. I've had my deal of sh*t talkers, I usually put them in their place in a polite way. and if they are still a smart*ss. Tell them to go to the track with you, I know people that were convinced they had a low 15 4 banger, and then they whine when they realize they are in the 16s :lolling: !! A lot of people think they are faster then they actually are. Then they get to see a set of tail lights as they get their a** beat :wavey: !

I beat my friend's RX8 really really bad. So bad I could barely see him in the rear view mirror.

as long as he's talking about a 1/4 mile track (sac raceway), you'll win for sure. If he's talking about a track with corners (closest one is I think Laguna Secca) he might win because they handle so good.

On second thought, I believe Hussain is correct. I think even I could take him lol! Not such thing as a guarantied win though.

Stay away from the windy stuff and crush him in a straight line. But even on a windy track the sheer power difference might make up for handling.

1/4 mile you win
Auto cross or timed lap style + he is a decent driver you lose

Ive seen numerous RX-8s run the auto cross track at Carlisle and they ALWAYS put up some of the best times. They are tiny little nimble cars, you will not beat him in a match of handling and cornering ability. s***, we wont beat Miatas in the same.

Lol I vowed to never return to the track until I've saved up enough for a Stillen pulley but this might be the exception.

Even with suspension mods we can't take an RX-8 out on a winding track?

Rwd this, rwd that blah blah

But it IS a chick's car sadly. Or rather most drivers I see on the road are girls. I've only seen 2-3 male drivers ever (except for modded ones)

yep lots of chicks driving them, but I've never gotten any negative comments. As a matter of fact I got 2 compliments yesterday lol keep in mind that the population of my city is ~20k people and I've been driving this car around since Jan. 2008. Most people are amazed with it, but there is little to no import love around here lol

Strangely enough I see more chicks driving Ford Raptors than dudes lol Honestly 90% of cars are unisex, but at the same time most people aren't into cars enough that "chick car" would even cross their mind...to them it's transportation.

I will admit though that my 91' 535i 5-speed manual with an LSD is hella fun after some rain :shifter:

I have never been told that I drive a chick car at all. I do however see lots of girls driving these, but for that matter I see lots of girls driving every two seater out there. Maybe girls just have better visual taste and can tell that our coupes are sexy?? Either way I have never received so many compliments for driving anything (other than compliments from complete hicks about my 1500 ram lol) Guys and girls alike think I have a really nice car and I agree! I know it doesn't compete with sports cars but that wasn't really why I bought it so it doesn't bother me!!

As a person who traded in a Shinka RX-8 for a 3.5 A/c, I feel I'm qualified to comment. First, the 3.5 Altima is faster, however, my RX8 was a manual and it had a lot more horsepower than the automatic RX8, so while I'm sure the A/C would win, I don't think it would blow it away. Another thing is the power in the RX8 doesn't come on until you reach the higher parts of the power band. Needless to say, to go from that to a CVT was a huge adjustment. 1/4 mile, I'd give to the Altima; 1/3 mile track or more (if one exists), I'd have to give it to the Mazda. I wouldn't suggest a race at highway speeds either because that's where the power in the Rotary comes in. Also, the RX8 is unquestionably one of the best handling cars I've ever driven. So don't do anything beyond straight line from a standing or slow rolling start.

Still one reason I was attracted to the A/C is because of the power without sacrificing gas mileage. The RX8 gas mileage was terrible. I averaged about 17 mpg on the RX8 when driven gently, and get about 22 mpg in the Altima when I drive with a heavy foot. I digress though.

As far as being a "chick's car", unfortunately, I'd agree with other posters, that I see more females driving these, than I do males. Ironically, if you look at RX8 drivers, I see more females driving those too. So even though I'm male, I guess I like the looks of these "chick cars." You notice it AFTER you buy the car, but I noticed it both times when I bought each car.
