Ok, i did a search for urethane subframe collars, no luck, so maybe this thread will be of help to others.

SPL is fresh out of their aluminum collars, Phase2M. has their own aluminum types ($95 ...ouch) and Peak Performance Urethane collars ($89 on sale). I've also called TechnoToyTuning and they weren't making any aluminum collars for the s13 anymore. But the guy on the phone told me someone on ebay is selling some and they're good units.

So my question is, as far as noise goes, the urethane collars are supposed to be quieter, but does that make them any less effective than the aluminum collars? My car's backend wheelhops so bad when i hit any imperfections in the road while in 1st or 2nd gear. It's embarassing.

Also, will installing these collars alter my alignment any? I ask since i'll be installing my tein inner/outer rods and kyb front strut mounts tommorow and i'll head up to NTB afterwards. So i want to know if i have to hold off until i can get the collars installed.

Dammit, that's not what i want to hear. I hate waiting since i only get two days off a week to do this sort of stuff.

The ebay seller delubzparts or whatever was the seller TechnoToy's rep was telling me was reputable. He told me not to get the 'chunky' ones. I figure he was referring to the aluminum subframe bushings since that's not what i want anyway in terms of ease of installation.

I have some ebay "subframe collars". They're nylon, and supposedly supposed to be the quitest. I got them because they were $20, and I already had my subframe dropped.

I can't give any before and after reviews because I did all of my suspension at once....

..but the highway is loud. Perhaps my tires aren't helping to quiet the noise either(ES-100). I don't know if those tires are notoriously noisy or what...

But to answer your aluminum vs urethane subframe collars: I'd say aluminum is stiffer. But the difference is probably negligible. Go with what's cheaper.

road noise won't matter if you have the music up really really loud!!! but i was wandering, are the aluminum ones really that loud?

I have the aluminum deluboz bushings. They are good units. Cnc machined and all. Anyway, I suppose his collars are just as good. I asked to buy directly, and oddly enough was cheaper that way. Email him telling him you want to buy a particular product. He may give you a better price. The rear definitely is stiffer. Kinda feels like a solid rear axle when going over speed bumps and the like. However, I found wheel hop greatly reduce and a nice whine from the diff. appear.

Gotta love working months on developing and drawing up designs on parts only to have some assclown knock them off and sell them for cut rate prices because he's outsourcing them to Taiwan.

Such is the market these days... shame to see alot of the people that started this market when it was small suffer. Same goes for Hotshot with the FWD SR20's. The companies that continue to steal Hotshots designs will eventually put them out of business and then they will be left with no futher progress. Who knows what they will copy then.

I think we all know where my loyalties lie.

If they patent their product then it can't be copied right?

Patents cost too much, and it's still up to the owner of the patent to sue the offender. Even then... whats the likelyhood someone like Deluboz will have the money to pay up?

Who came up with the idea of subframe collars in the first place? I'm very curious.

Here's a pic of the Peak Performance urethane subframe collars/bushings from Phase2M.

If i were to get these? Would i necessarily have to cut out the slots? Seems like it would better if i left them intact, although, i don't know if that would make it any harder to install them (it shouldn't if i drop the subframe down enough, right?)

right. W/those you have to drop the subframe. You need the notched ones not to drop it. As to who came up w/bushings/collars, probably some Japanese company some years ago?
