What's a z32 trans with an RB bell housing worth?

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

Anyone have any idea? I needed to put a z32 bell on my rb26 trans so I'm going to have some z32trans and an rb bell housing left over. I was going to sell it to a friend but he decided to get rid of his RB now.

Knock 20% off of an RB25DET trans and sell it for that, thats reasonable.

A 300ZX trans in OK shape is worth 200-300 dollars

An RB26 bell housing is worth 100-150 dollars

That's what I'm thinking. Never mind the labor to swap out the main shaft between the cases. Oh well, after I'm done inspecting syncros to make sure it's good I'll throw it in classifieds or ebay

You don't have to swap mainshafts.

Are you talking about the input shaft?

Sorry, not threadcrapping but you don't need to change input shafts. I didn't when I did my trans swap 4 years ago.

Good luck with the sale! - Evan

I had read that before and didn't notice till now that there is only an 1/8" difference in length. Unfortunately for me I'll be loosing that 1/8". I wonder if it would be a problem since I'm running a twin disk clutch.

If it's not an issue my day just got better

1. Pop detent bolt, ball, and spring out. Remove Detent ball holder2. Remove pivot ball retaining clip, remove shift fork, remove throwout bearing3. Remove all 10mm bolts holding the front cover on, remove cover4. Remove 2 retaining clips on input and sub-shaft5. Stand trans on end, remove all 12mm bolts holding trans together6. Bang the crap out of the bell housing, remove7. Replace bell housing, reverse procedure

None of that switching mainshafts BS.....the guys that originally came out with that info are crooks....

Why would 1/8" in the end of the input shaft make any difference? The engagment of the clutch disk on the splines is the same....if the input shaft was bottoming out on the crank, you'd have an issue....

splined length is the same, it's moved 1/8" away from the engine though. Keep in mind I'm putting a z32 bell on an rb26 transmission so I'll have a shorter shaft effectively

Yeah totally

I am actually pulling my trans out to do another z32 trans installation. Mine has been whiny since day one. I should have it out tonight.

Evan

BTW, what are you going to use the 26dett w/z32 bell for?

Going to use a mazworx sr20 to vg30 adapter and run an awd sr20 in a Lotus 7 replica

There's a half *** one over in hybrids. I should be getting steel in the next few weeks, just waiting on a tubing bender to get started.
