What's a JY S13 worth?

I want to build a race car out of a 240 and its impossible to find these things anymore. They are so scarce and when you do see one the person wants WAY too much money for it. I want to turn a junker into a dirt track race car. Most tracks have a 4-cylinder class and everyone uses FWD econoboxes but I think a 240 would really work good since its rwd and all. Possibly even have the advantage of the vlsd. But anyway, what is an S13 (single or dohc) worth in the junk yard if its been wrecked but still has a working engine and transmission? Ive come across a few and they wanted like $800 for the junker. I was like dude you only paid $50 for the tow bill theres no way Im giving you that much. So clearly the salvage yards are really proud of their nissans! Have any of you bought s13 parts cars from a junk yard and how much did you pay? Im just trying to get ideas how I can save some money on this. The race track has a $1000 car claim rule so I cant spend much more than that or I'dbe wasting my time. Anyone who is slower can buy my car for a grand if they want and Im out of a car. And 240's are incredibly hard to find as is so Id have to start over again. ANYWAY let me know what you guys think some fair prices are for cars with mild damage. Thanks!

I baught my first for 300, another for 300 and one for 100. The first and the last where running cars, just looked like **** and had very little interior left, some body damage, but now they ROCK!
