Does this OCI affect you warranty? All my other cars ran on synthetic oils with an OCI of 12,000 - 15,000 Km. Oil analysis from Wearcheck verifies that the oil was still good. Lots of TBN left (yeah, BITOG member ) This is the first car I have had since 1975 that had a warranty and I am a little cautious about voiding it by extending the OCI, knowing full well that if you use a good syn and filter there is really no problem.

no need to spend that extra money.
That's what I use for my 240, worth it IMO. Instead of trying to f*** around with it underneath the intake manifold(SR20DET) I just pop on a 1 inch socket and rachet the damned thing off. Plus it's a good filter, same for the AMSOil filter.

I would like to know this too. Any answers that don't include "drifting" in the sentence?

In the very unlikely event that an engine would have an internal failure during the short warranty period, I strongly suspect a manufacturer would be looking for any opportunity to deny the warranty claim. If you can't show proof of oil changes following the required OCI of 7500 miles, Nissan would deny warranty coverage.

36,000 miles will come soon enough, and then when the warranty is out, go with an OCI beyond 7500 miles if oil analysis shows it to be ok.

What's wrong with the Nissan filter? Filters are filters, why take the chance of Nissan blaming your non-factory approved part for whatever malfunction just to save a few bucks?

It is tough to actually prove if one brand of filter would work better than another. Concerning the Nissan filter, I prefer to avoid "made in China" parts on any car of mine. There are way too many examples of horrible quality control with Chinese products (food, toys, tools, tires, etc.). Why take the chance?
