I'm planning on upgrading my 71 510, and I'm leaning towards a KA24DE, for practicality and economical purposes. I don't have cash to throw towards an SR20, otherwise I'd be more than happy to go that route. What my question is, what should I be looking for, and how much is too much? I've recently come across a KA out of a wrecked 99 Altima. He wants 350 for the engine, or 500 for the engine/trans combo(it's automatic... I'd like to go manual). Not sure if those are FWD vehicles, anyhow. Anyway, the motor has 80k on it, and doesn't come w wiring harness or cpu. Good, or no good? Thanks

99 Altima is front wheel drive. Your going to want one out of a 240sx or another truck.

K, are you talking about the engine or tranny, or both? Is the engine different in a FWD then?

You have to get both out of a 240sx, i believe the intake plenum sits differently on the Nissan trucks and require more work than necessary. And if the motor runs good then you're looking around 500 for both with decent miles.

if you where to get a KA from an Altima the distributor would be in the bulkhead. One from a SX would be better for the 510, engine and trans.
