My sr seems to start to boost at about 2500 rpm +/- 100 rpm. I this right? I've been reading and it seems liek it should be boosting around 3500+ rpm. Also, what problems can a leaking BOV cause?

If it is the stock turbo then starting to boost at 2500 RPM is great. 3500 would be WAY too late to start boosting. You should be hitting full boost in the 3200 RPM range in 4th gear. A leaky BOV can cause a boost leak, which can lead to over fueling and over spinning the turbo to hit your desired boost level. It will just basically make you car run like crap under boost.
