6300rpm has netted me consistent 1.7X 60 ft times.

Don't you think that 6300rpm is a little excessive, unless you have an awd layout, but even then that is a bit much.

it would be too much for street tires but its meant for slicks.

I've always launched at 6k (and try to keep it there). This was on old crap cooper all season tires without the vlsd and netted a best of 1.86 60ft. The key is to slip the clutch on the way out while keeping your rpm where you launch it at. This prevents bog on the line and builds boost faster.

a guy that goes to keystone drag strip here in PA launches at 4500rpm because if launches any harder he keeps shearing his output shaft on the trans. he runs 10.9 sec.

exactly...

i did a 1.448 on slicks. but i do not slip the clutch because i have never raced on street tires. Waste of time IMHO.

I'm on Nitto drag radials.. Last time I raced I launched at 5500rpm (@11psi) and I spun stright though first gear, and I was on the limitor while the 03 cobra was walking away. Then I launched at about 4800rpm and I hooked right up (was even with him because the Stang was on ET Streets).

The launching depends on too many variables... Surface, boost, tires, tire pressure, outside temp, tire temp, turbo (mine spools high), etc. Just gotta feel your car out.

If you're on slicks you have to launch really high to keep it from boging, since it won't spin. On most radials you have to launch it high enough to keep it in the boost, but not so high that is just engulfs. It's pretty hard but you get used to it. Where you really make up time is your shifting.

I launched at 3k on sorry street tires at 24 and cut a 2.0 60'. Like 240sxer said, there are too many variables.
