Hey guys, new to the forum, as well as my I30.. Thinking about going with some 18"s or 17"s.. Anyone have suggestions as to offsetting as well as wheel width?

Anyone have pics of what they're running and what size you've got on?

Cheers.AJ

Hey welcome aboard!! i added (I30) to your title to hopefully get you guided int he right direction for your car! Happy modding!

BTW I am running 20x8.5 with 38 mm offset which most likely doesn't matter to you, hence the title update!

Thanks fellas, At this point im trying to decide offset and backspacing measurements. I would rather not have to modify the car to make wheels fit, but i would like an increase in handling. 45mm? 42,40,38? If anyone has info on how these offsets will effect the ride please let me know. Also im going to be running all season tires for the crazy colorado weather.

Im thinking 17" or 18" just want a solid responsive ride thats not harsh. My I30 isn't that plush with 16" 225/50 MishPilot sport A/S.Im looking at maybe the Enkei LS 5 black. 18" x 7.5. +42mm orKazera KZ H 17 or 18 +40 orSport Edition ST 4 18x8 +42

I'm really impressed with the ride quality of my Toyo Proxes4s. It's an admirable blend of road feel and feedback with smoothness. They're really surprisingly smooth for low-profiles. I'd describe the ride with aftermarket suspension (this is on a Q45, not a Max) and 245-45-17 tires as stiff but silky. It's not nearly as plush as it was with the 215-65-15 in snow tires I switched from, but it's still quite livable. With stock I30 suspension I imagine they'd be very comfortable tires while still giving you good road feel. They're probably some of the smoothest driving tires I've EVER had experience with.

Any reason not to go with an 18" wheel for all year round?

i wouldn't recommend any wider tire than 225 with our cars. i have 245s and they're not very driveable (below 44psi) - any line/crack/rut in the road and they follow that to well - i think max/i30 might be too light.

I think that's more of the tires than the width. I run 225's all year. My summer wheel/tire combo follows the cracks ruts and such like crazy. But my snow tire set up on my stockers don't follow at all. I also haven't had a tired any wider on my car yet.

I had a pair of 16's {stock wheels} then went with OZ Racing 17's which I am selling. NOW: I have a set of 18's on my Maxima . with 225/40/18 and the 17's are 225/45/17

Why did you go from 17" to 18"? any noticeable ride difference between sidewall height?

The 17's OZ racing wheels I bought "used" So, I wanted to upgrade. I went and put a Elbach springs kit with Tockio shocks then after that I wanted to get new shoes so, I bought some 18's and there were a lighter wheel then the 17's you can tell a big differnce on the ride, and drove better too. Now as far as sidewall height you can tell a difference that it looks better whith more wheel with less tire. Now the 17's came off of a 1990 Maxima that I use to own but I sold it to my cousin then I bought a 2001 Maxima. Just was not happy how the OZ's looked on a 2001. I have no problems with my 18's at all. My next upgrade is to get some ajustable coilovers that way I can go lower and ride even better. Peace out
