I am looking for some rims for my car, and I was wondering if you guys could have something that will look nice on it. I want something that looks kinda baller, with a big lip, and nothing to associate it with racing.http://www.wheelsboutique.com/...d_key=

Look on ebay for used wheels. I'm not suggesting buying them there, just look there for ideas.

There's a few well known sites, that have been mentioned on here numerous times ... see if you can find them by searching

Smaller/stock is less expensive, less trouble and looks better to me, and as long as you aren't running steel wheels with noisy hub caps you should be good to go.

It's funny how art/model/toy cars used to imitate the real thing, but now it seems the other way around to the point where real cars are looking like toys that belong in someone's pocket = Mattel Hot Wheels. Just IMHO.

And how about setting some funds aside for those items that are going to fail; belts, suspension, injectors, oil seals, etc? Dull, dull, dull...

Each (with o-rings) about half the cost of one of those wheels.

How much per new tire for each new rim; including mounting, balancing, stems, disposal fees, a good four-wheel alignment and wheel locks? How many miles will the tires last and how might they affect other suspension/running gear components? And then will you worry more about your ride?

They do look mighty purty and shiny though.

I would definately second that motion.

I just ordered the full timing belt kit for $400, will have it installed in 2 weeks, hopefully for @ $300 labor. 2 weeks ago it was the throttle position sensor for $45, was able to install myself. I just orders rear pads & rotors $90, front rotors & pads $170 (all brakes I can install myself), tension rod bushings $82 + @ $50 in labor & need new plugs that's @ $120 installed, will do the front struts with boots/bumpers/seats & mounts that's about $500 plus @ $250 labor & lastly flush/filter transmission service, all this month (thank goodness the markets been good to me ).

That's about $2,000 of well needed maintenance. OMG that is a 3rd of the value of the car!

I am at 108,000 miles with my 97. The only major work so far has been the rear struts last year for about $550. Hopefully I will be good to go for another 30,000 without anything else major.

I thought about rims once myself but changed my mind. If I did do the rims I would problaby go with 16" & a tire with a little lower profile to match the stock tires diameter such as 225/50/16 however when your speedo reads 60 mph you will actually be doing 59.3 mph..

Go for the 18's they will look clean and your car will corner like crazy. They are heavier then stock by a good amount, but if its what you want dont let anyone stop you. All cars have problems and that doesnt always stop you from adding mods to your vehicle.

I would go with everyones sugestions here and just stick with stock till you win the lottery of you inherit alot of money.

I once wanted to get wheels from my 91 Q45 that was totaled or something close to the original wheels (And still would if I could find them (Z-racing type 70 something) but I have a ton of problems to address)

If you think you have no problems and can save up money fast again for problems you will have then go for it other wise heed this thread advise.

I know its hard not to have the best looking car just look at my wheels they arnt horrible but there not BBS either:

yes, and everyone is calling my car a POS. I have done so much **** to it. They can go drive their fancy BMW's as their first car (2008 5 series, X5, 3 series, brand new TSX, Tl's etc). They will never pick up a wrench in their life. But I want to show them that my car can look nice(r). I have almost completed that goal with, HIDS, fogs, intake, painted engine bay, ICE, and now im waiting for tint, rims, paint, exhaust. All has to be done within next June before college.

Drive a beater car, one that you don't care about and haven't put so much effort and money into, to college. What school will you be attending?

Two weeks after I'd put my '72 240Z back together again after having it repainted, a delivery van backed into it while I was at work and where I parked it so that no one would hit it.

Not too long after that, neighbor kids cut the lock off of my garage door, pried open a locked door frame, cut the heater and dual carb choke cables in order to steal my already failing $150 AM/FM cassette radio.

Fast forward about 20 years to when my son was learning to drive in my '97 F-150 pick-up; pulling into our drive way, he was about to stop and then I spooked him, so he hit the gas instead of the brake. There went our garage door and the rear end of my Z that was parked behind it.

Nice looking cars attract all kinds of attention, good and bad, and no car is safe, anywhere, not even locked in your garage.

Keep your eye on craigslist for someone selling 350Z OEM take-off's with good tread. You should be able to get a complete set for $500 or less, drive on them for a few months, then re-sell them an get most of your money back.

Something like this http://newyork.craigslist.org/....html though there's no price listed.
