I have the Basic CD radio and I am not happy with it. I think I need to change it.

In my last car, I didnt have problems with the FM brodcast of my Sirius radio. The Versa gets a lot more radio staions or it dosent filter out weak signals as well. But I get a lot more crap!

What have other people done?

I just took out my Pioneer Premier 780 and put in a Kenwood DDX6019.

I prefer the looks of the double din 6019, but the Premier had so much more control over EQ, and much easier Ipod controls. So I either need to add an external EQ, or ditch the 6019 and get a Pioneer D3. Grrr.

Stock SL. RAdio has given no problems whatsoever -- picks up stations cleanly that I had trouble with the aftermarket in my last vehicle.

Mostly listen to CDs but today had the radio on and an old "driving tune" came on . . . so I blasted it until I thought . . . "how much can the speakers take?".

So . . . how much? HOw high can I turn the volume dial before I regret it and am forced to upgrade before I'm ready to?

Stock SL stereo with a Helix XM unit connected via AUX.

FM modulation is a bad idea in my area, between the large number of radio stations and the large population with FM modulators it's hard to find a frequency that's completely unused. Besides, the quality of the AUX is better than the FM modulation anyway.

Franko - That's about level 21 for the radio, 21-MAX on the CD player (depending on the master level), and 24 for the XM unit.

I had a Dual XDVD8285 Dual-din touchscreen DVD/Bluetooth unit... for all of 6 days. It was great, until it got stolen. Not wanting to go through all that crap again, and having all I need with the portable XM unit and a new bluetooth headset, I won't be installing an aftermarket unit in mine. I'm too old to blow my brains out with music anyway.

I have an SL Versa with the technology package and Rockford Fosgate subwoofer. Although I'll never be accused of waking the neighbourhood from thumping bass, I find the transparency/fidelity to be very good. The volume actually goes up in db steps (probably 3db per number increment). I've also been pleased to see that it can actually operate at MAX volume with negligible distortion rather than overdriving the circuits and speakers. The speakers stay tight and the system doesn't set up unwanted resonant vibrations in the interior. That is a tribute to how tight the panels are in the Versa.

As was mentioned by someone above, the FM reception of this radio/antenna combination is exceptional. We have one station in our city that is problematic on every other car I've driven when travelling over a certain bridge. Not so in the Versa. The auxilliary input is great as well as the six disc changer with MP3/WMA capability. The Bluetooth connectivity and the steering wheel mounted audio controls make for a lovely all round package. Unheard of in this price class. You have to order a Top of the Line Honda Accord at $30,000+ to get Bluetooth.

Anyone considering a Versa, who also appreciates a decent stereo, should at least try to sit an SL with the technology package and have a listen. Unfortunately, there generally aren't many so equipped on Dealer's lots. Fortunately, I got lucky and have no regrets going this route.

We have the AM/FM/satellite ready stereo with the 6 cd changer. It's worked about as well as any other factory car stereo we've had. We did cancel the Sirius satellite service because reception was horrible in the areas of Upland that we drive every day. The regular reception and the cd changer are good.
