What radiator is this?

Swapping out my girlfriends radiator and noticed as I was removing that there weren’t any transmission cooling lines…sure enough when I popped the new one out of the box it did have ports. Did someone swap in an after market transmission cooler?

What radiator should I buy to direct swap as easy as possible? Or can I just plug those ports with something?

Is the car an A/T or a CVT? The CVT's had a heat exchanger, the A/T's didn't. If it's a CVT, look for the smaller two lines on the beehive being looped back. If that's what you find then somebody installed the A/T or M/T radiator and eliminated the exchanger. That's very unhealthy, but you basically just need new hoses to fix it.

Dang you lost me at beehive, there are two lines coming off the transmission but they go to parts I’m not sure if - I’ve only ever worked on manuals.

She says she’s got the CVT but let me do some checking

The beehive is on the front of the transmission, the one on that car should be cylindrical. It will look a bit like a beekeeper's box, which is why we call them beehives. It's 21606R in this parts diagram:

Oh, PS - I take it back about the regular 4AT not having an exchanger. It did, but no beehive, just nipples on the trans housing. Only the M/T radiators didn't have exchangers at all.

I think it’s the 4AT - so should it have lines going to the radiator? I can crawl under there and take some better pics too

Yep. They'll be looped back if someone eliminated the exchanger.

Welp, my bad, the hatches were different and I haven't seen one in a long time, so this got me confused. The 4AT's are the only ones with an exchanger, the CVT's are actually looped back by the factory with an arrangement like the early CVT Maximas. Instead of ports on the back of the beehive which mate to the transmission with o-rings, the beehive is a separate piece bolted to the transmission and connected using hoses and banjo fittings. The hoses cycle the fluid straight back into the housing after a trip through the hive. It's actually easy (and very beneficial) to rig the exchanger, but you need to add a pair of hoses (use "hot oil rated" hose only, most parts stores stock it). Remove and discard the hose with the arrows, then run the new hoses to and from the exchanger as shown, one from the banjo on the housing to the radiator and the other from the radiator back to the beehive.
