I just bought my first car and what do you know, It's a 240SX. I want to spend all of my money on upgrading the car but I don't want to spend money in vain. I want to start with my my hubs and go straight to conversion but I also know that it's not that easy In also have to get brakes rims and tires. which cost just as much as a front clip. Which leads me to my other question, should I just go straight ahead and get an SR20DET or get the rims and ETC. I know any sane person would just go for the SR, It's just that when I bought the car It came with 14"Eagle Alloys. I have a feeling that right about now your thinking "does a stock 240 come with 14"s ?"

Well, no they don't , and they suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also I thought thought the "Black-top" had more power than the "Red-top" If that is the case than why is the red top more popular than the black either than cost

just pick up some stock rims from a junkyard or ebay or something and then blow the money you wanna blow on the motor. sleepers rock. transferable parts are pretty much anything not on the motor (brakes are a good area to spend the cash on too... 300zx can fit under s13 se 7spoke rims, 30mm needs a spacer though).

Sleepers are nice. If I had the money I'd have a sleeper SR or even RB. But I don't. Yes, the car is essentially the same either Silvia or 240sx so you don't need "Silvia" parts for the rolling chassis. Might I suggest something though. Be sure you know how to drive. It's your first car you said, I am assuming you haven't driven much. Black top SR has variable valve timing, Red top does not. But the difference is null if you are going to change any of the stock internals on the black top anyway. Better to just go with RedTop, the actual differences really aren't worth the price diff if you want to continue to build the car. Tek

Well I was thinking about getting the LSD off of the 180SX. I read somewhere oh yeah the last issue of TPR that the 180SX came with a pretty good diff. My 240 is no drifter, Actually it's really bad in wet weather, has the tendency to pull to only one side when I brake the rear end loose. And the understeer with the lack of power make the car kind of a downer.still have high hopes for it though.

I also wanted to know if the calipers off of the 300ZX are direct bolt on or do they need modifications to the nuckle? Or do I have to buy the whole nuckle off of the 300ZX? Is it cheaper than buying the 5 stud conversion?
