I would just like to know what negine is powering everyone's 510's and also see a few pics of them! I'm wildly interested in these cars.

I have a '71 2 door with '91 240sx KA24DE. Tranny out of the same car.Currently dead rear diff.:(

It's getting lowered a bit more, roadster finned alum. drums in the rear, a new drivers' door, bullet mirrors in proper spot on BOTH sides of the car, Black Konig rewinds, Falken Azenis, SS brake lines, new exhaust, bending the damn header so it clears my steering box once and for all, and a 4:11 LSD.

Get one. You won't regret it.

My first 510 had a built L20B.

My second 510 had a built L18.

My third 510 had a built LZ22.

My third 510 lost the LZ22 and got a KA24DE.

I sold my third 510 and bought the 240SX. The 510 was fun to drive, but too old to be a ~1000 mile a week daily driver.

Which car do you prefer now? The 240sx or the 510 both being KA24DE powered. Is there a noticeable difference in performance with teh same engine in a different car?

My first 4 510's had L16's with various mods. My 5th one had an L20B and my current one has a KA24DET. I will never own an SR20 like everyone else. The KA is a sweet engine.

I have had 510s with all sorts of engines, including the KA24DE. BUt this is by far the best car/engine combo I have owned. Its an S13 SR20DET , bored .020 over, forged pistons, blueprinted/balanced bottom end, greddy headgasket, ported head, complete valve work, custom intercooler, 3" stainless exhaust, S15 bearing turbo, tial wastegate, greddy BOV, AEM engine management, AEM fuel press regulator, AEM ignition, custom wiring harness, speed density conversion (NO MAF SENSOR!). It is running but is being tuned for drivability, after that comes tuning for power on the dyno. Sorry no Rotaries here.

I am not a big fan of SR20's but your car looks like its well put together. Any cooling problems with that big intercooler blocking the radiator? I know that that Mario guy from So. Cal (who everyone thinks is the 510 guru) had nothing but problems keeping his SR20DET from boiling over because of his intercooler placement. He also had a very large Griffin radiator. My intercooler is placed down below the radiator and I still have cooling concerns with a large Griffin and duel electric fans. Do you have a front sway bar on yours and if so did you custom fab it or move the engine back far enough so that at full droop it doesn't rub on the fron of the oil pan?

I was running the stock 510 radiator as a temporary patch (major overheating problems), and I just installed the new custom C&R radiator. I worked with the people at C&R to get the largest possible unit in the space I had. It is a 3 row, double pass unit using just plain distilled water (water cools better without coolant!). It also has a 1800 CFM spal fan that is triggered by the EMS. I have not yet driven it with the new radiator, but I am anticipating that it will be fine. A guy at C&R is working on a piece that is installed in the factory waterpump to increase its efficiency.I have ridden in marios new S15 powered car and it seemed to not overheat, fast as hell too.I have also seen a handful of 510s, with intercoolers, running without overheating problems, so I know the problem can be fixed, it is no reason to keep from doing the swap. I have yet to drive my car for longer than a minute, I am still dealing with some major bugs.I am going to get a front swaybar from Spriso motorsports, they have them for the 510 with an SR20 installed.

I havn't seen Mario's S15 but was refering to his first SR20DET that was a Shasta 2 years ago (I think it was the one that got ripped off). He had a huge Greddy intercooler that completely covered the radiator and it boiled over up the access road to the ski area. My intercooler is similar to Mike Spreadbury's (co-owner of Spriso) old VG30E 510 that Steve Epperly built for him. It seems to work well. The radiator/cooling fans are a different issue. Are you in Portland or elsewhere in Oregon?

1st car 69 had a pretty stock L16 that I blew up... NOw its in the procces of getting a KA24E but the plan keeps growing.. started with I want an L2ob..then turbo L20B then KA24E, then low boost 5psi KA...now I want like at least 10psi heh... I'm going to die in that car...

my wagon had a stock L16

next wagon Turbo L18

Current 510 L16, 210 closed chamber head, flat tops, 32/36 DGV, turner header 2 2 inch to resonator, mild cam.when I bought it the guy had it running so rich it spit flames. was kinda kool. But that engines gone now.

Make sure you build the motor before you start turning up the boost. That includes the fuel system. 10 psi becomes 15, then 20, then...... you get the picture. Boost is very addicting. ight up to the point where you exceed the limits of your motor.

2 years ago, I had a 1971 4 door with a L18 that I had put in because the OG L16 was hosed. I had it for a while and then sold it to someone who in turn let it sit and I think it eventually may have gone to a junk yard. I miss it now even though it was a ****box.

I have a datsun 510 with an sr20det in it. i have no complaints. i run a huge griffin radiator and huge intercooler with no overheating. the hottest i have ever seen it get up to is 160 degrees. it seems the harder i run it the cooler it gets. it dyno'd at 240whp with stock turbo turned up and with super afc . ever since its been done iv been eating mustangs cobra's for lunch and crap WS6's.I just bought some nismo 550cc injectors and an HKS GT2835 turbo. the pictures i have right now are with the old starion intercooler. my car is the blue one if you go to the speedshop 510 sight. http://www.geocities.com/cooli....html

Well. my mechanic has a datsun 510 with a 2jz with a fat single turbo. its not quit done but im sure you guys will see it some time next year. its not an RB26 but still out of control. anyways RB26det parts are still kind of hard to get and way too expensive. although i would still like to see one done.
