What plugs do you use?

I'm looking to do a good old fashioned tune-up on my new car and I'm trying to decide what plugs to go with. I'm going with NGK (and matching wires) but can't decide what kind to get, V-Power, G-Power Platinum or Iridium's.

Any thoughts or opinions?

KA24DE. not sure of the year since the engine was replaced with a rebuilt one about a year and a half a go (I bought it last week). And I don't see a year for the engne in any of the paper work I have.

Since I bought my 240SX in '93 I've always tried to use the tune-up stuff that brings more performance and durability. For example, from the first oil change only a strict diet of synthetic oil will do.

Regarding plugs I tried the more sophisticated ones like Splitfire; from those I decided to stay with Bosch +4 (platinum with four electrodes). Before my last tune-up I tried the Bosch +2 (two electrodes) for economic purposes, but the engine didn't run as smoothly as with the +4; so I got them back for my last change...129K miles.

What about Denso/stock? If your not running anything special you have no reason to upgrade because the stock ones will do just fine. Don't buy anything with more than one electrode. They are crap and a waste your time and money. I am running Denso iridium and they work just fine on my stock car. Don't buy pay for pre-gapped **** either. It's just another ploy to make you spend more money for being lazy and not gapping them yourself.

I'm never lazy on this matters, but I do a lot of testing and I began using stock-types and gaping. When trying the Splitfires I'd always gapped them, but when I tried the Bosch the engine does run smoother. I don't gap them because you really can't, unless there is a technique that someone here tells me about, but try them yourself.

You know, this stuff is like guns to bullets. A model and brand of pistol may fire great a particular kind of bullet, and that same bullet may fire differently on another one, same brand and model. A mod migth make 5 hp more in a 240SX '93 and in another same model car result in 8 or 10. Mechanical ***t is like that man.

I always use a platinum plug mainly for durabilty and longevity. Plus there a better plug for conducting spark.Iridium is nice but maybe overkill for your application. My motto is if you have to replace something replace it with the best.

I'd go for the NGK BKR6EIX-11's listed here...

http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/misc_tune.html

Or if you're going turbo, like the site says, get the BKR7EIX-11's instead...
