If you want to modify a G37, get a used one. I wouldn't touch a brand new one and kill the warranty.

And I have to ask what on earth would you would do with more power? (OK, I guess I asked for it now, huh?) Have you driven a G37? They are crazy fast! Even my 280hp 2005 G35 puts a grin on my face going to work and back. And it's "right-now" power, not like 10 years ago when you had to rev a 2.8 or 3.0 engine to make even 180-200hp. Although, even my 99 Maxima with only 190hp was a blast to drive with a 5-speed manual.

Like someone above said, if you do get a new car, drive it for a while and determine what it's lacking before you kill reliability AND the warranty.

I'm kind of in the same boat as the OP. But I just want to get a good solid tune. I told the wife that I wasn't buying this car to mod as heavily as my past cars. I know that the tune can always be tweaked to pull a few more ponies. So no need to go FI or make the exhaust louder than it comes stock. I would love to know where to get in touch with a reputable tuner near the Las Vegas area.

The stock tune is already pretty agressive. If you got a 5hp increase on a stock G35 from the best tuner, I'd be impressed. Plus the least expensive tune for you car runs $600 on the cheap end. That money could be better spent on a plenum spacer, grounding kit, and maybe some better brake pads.

Well I have the grounding kit (thanks! by the way), I'm ordering HPS pads real soon since the stockers squeal like a pig, and have considered the 5/16" spacer to have the clearance I want for a strut brace.

Hey Jason,

Sorry, didn't associate you with the screen name. I think those 3 items will bring you joy lol.

I'd work on suspension next if you're willing to go a little lower. If I was keeping the G, springs would be my next mod. I'm not thrilled with the body roll.

I want lower, but I want to know if Z springs will work without having to do the strut swap as well. We discussed this in emails. Can't get anyone on here to offer an answer to that. Not bashing. Just simply don't want to spend money on springs only to find out I need the struts/shocks as well. I really love the smooth ride this car gives. I hate the roll on corners compared to my last car. I'd love to level that out.

Why not change out both? I've ridden in a G sedan with Z springs and struts and the ride was still softer than my coupe with sports suspension.

Because if the stock struts still allow for the shorter spring, I don't want to waste the money. Even buying a new set of stock Z struts and shocks still ain't cheap. I'll keep my eyes peeled for some springs. Maybe I can luck out on a steal for a price. What about frame stiffeners? I can't seem to find any info regarding quality, affordable strut braces and lower front or rear braces.

Uprev/Osiris is (IMO) the best option for a ECU reflash

I don't agree what you said about the infiniti's performance. Look at AMG and what that company does for Mercedes Benz models, which are likewise luxury cars. All the cars that beat the G37 are either turbocharged like the 335i and boosted cars have a huge advantage over a normally aspirated motor like the VQ37. The AUDI S4 or S5 is either boosted or has a V8. I have noted a huge increase in performance in torque in my 2009 G37x coupe by just placing K&N air filters and Stillen high flow cats and their cat back exhaust on the car. With either water/methanol injection or a better improved version of the Stillen GEN 3 or the Injen cold air system one could get in the area of 370 to 380 crank horsepower with this engine especially with dyno tune computer reflash. Just my thoughts

There was mention about someone who has over 500 rear wheel horsepower and couldn't get past 12.5 seconds in the quarter mile. That fellow doesn't know how to drive! The GTR has way less than 500 rwhp and runs 11s at almost 120 mph.
