What percent are legal tints? What percent do you guys have?

Ok, so im thinking about getting my windows tinted but idk how it works...what percent did you guys tint your windows? And what is legal? Thanks

it varies from state to state, cali got the worse one at 70% for front windows. I have 35% fronts, 20% back. I know a few that has 5% tint all the way around.

lol, some cops are still on the old laws, it used to be NO TINT on the front... some cops still go by that...

in PA its 70%, i'm going to try my luck with 35%

5% all the way around. I never get ****ed with. Just roll down your windows when you pass a cop. Pretty simple. If they ask you when you get stopped, tell them you put it on at the Nissan dealership

I'm over in NYC and Jersey isn't that far away from me. Legal tints on driver and passenger side is 35% and the back windows can go as dark as you want i believe. 35% to me is way to light. It's a waste of $150. If your gonna get tints you want your money's worth. I got 20% all around. Cops really won't bust your balls about tints now a days unless your really doing some dumb **** on the road.

The law in California is still NO TINT on your front windows. This info is straight from the Ca.gov web site. Here are some other illegal things too. http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/streetlegal.html

Lowered frame (or any other part) that is lower than the lowest point of the wheel rim (24008 VC). Air and hydraulic suspension systems that are operated unsafely or with the vehicle lower than allowed (24002, 24008 VC). Tinting the front side windows and the windshield (except for a narrow band at the top of the windshield). Windows behind the driver's head may be tinted. If rear window is tinted, right-side mirror is required (26708 VC).

Meh I used to have 20% all around.

I got stopped for it twice. The first time I got away without taking it off... The second time it happened I just took the front off; not worth it.

I'm located in Kalifornia, so I suppose the cops here are just more strict about these things. *sigh*

new york state law says front windows can be no more than 70 percent. It used to be 35 percent but it was changed a few years back. Most cars come from the dealerhip with 70% already...my coupe did. I now have 35% front 15% rear. I haven't had any trouble with them yet...

Ive got 20%, and Ive never get messed with, but here in AZ the cops understand the need for tint pretty well, its HOT. but you're more likely to get searched. some cops think dark tint means you're hiding something, and use it as probable cause to search your car. Then again if they wanted to search mine I can just show my badge!
