What parts should I bring back from Japan?

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

So I'm heading back to the states in about 4 months, and I plan to swap my RB25 drivetrain (see sig for build thread) into a S14 when I get back. What kind of other "stuff" should I start collecting while I'm over here besides motor/transmission/computer. I'm talking about stuff like brakes, maybe a cross-member, extra wiring harness, gage cluster?, crap like that. Anything you guys can think of that you wish you could have just popped into a japanese junk yard and grabbed while you were doing your swap would be helpful, little or big.

It seems to me like there has been a boat-load of interest in the AWD swap. It might be a good idea to snap up any r32 front suspension assemblies! R33 clutch fans and radiator shrouds would be awesome too as there seems to be a push to get rid of the e-fan nonsense and revert back to the OEM clutch fan.

These are super easy things that I'm sure a good number of folks would appreciate having convenient access.

My $0.02

find me 1) apexi power meter (gauge type 450ps) and 2) apexi multi checker and I'd seriously consider trading that stuff for the wiring in your swap car.

If any of you guys want me to track stuff down for you, feel free to shoot me an email and I'll see what I can find. I get parts for people all the time.

I was more talking about what kind of stuff I could find for myself now that would help out with my swap.

That's what I'm talking about. Also, this might piss you guys off a bit, but me and a buddy are going in on a R33 w/slushbox that still runs for $350 TOTAL so I'll grab all the things you just mentioned. Somebody else is getting the brakes/hubs though

R33 Diff might be of some help.Seats,Steering wheel

Power folding mirrors??? Do S14's have them?S14 headlights, the ones in the states are plastic and most of them are Yellowish.

I'm using a GTR diff and rear end now, so the 33 stuff wouldn't suit. I'll look into the folding mirrors though. I'm sure they are power ones here. I think the headlights are plastic still though. I'm also bringing my leather GTR seats back. What about stuff for the 5 lug conversion?

As for wheels, I actually like what's available in the states better, besides the fact they don't cost more than my car in the states.

AlmightyWez, are you Corey or Joe? If not, I didn't get your email.

K, I've had a BUNCH of emails about bringing stuff back for people. I'm going to look into going in on a container with a buddy of mine and maybe getting some stuff back to help with the cost of shipping my parts back. I'll post up a thread about it when I have some more info, so DON'T ASK ABOUT IT IN THIS THREAD!. Like I said, I'll make another thread when I get some more info.

As for what parts I should bring, here's what I'm bringing for my swap..........

-engine (RB25 with all the supporting crap like Power FC, injectors, turbo kit, blah blah blah)-transmission/clutch (RB25)-GTR diff/axles/hubs-R33 engine harness-R32 engine harness-FMIC and piping (I know it won't fit. I'll make it fit )-RB25 into R32 engine harness-GTR seats-R33 instrument cluster-R32 instrument cluster-R33 front and rear brakes-R33 Crossmember

I'll add more to that as I remember

If you look above, I've already got all of that, and I'll bet my seats are in a *little* better shape than yours

And as for sushi, hells yeah! I wish I could bring some back for myself! I had some in NC last time I was home and it SUCKED even compared to ki-ten sushi (conveyor belt style restaurant).
