I wish there was a good way to test used OEM fuel pumps with out them being on the vehicle. There is a resistance check but I wouldn't bet labor on a good OHM reading.

Either OEM new or OEM low millage used is best in my option.

I think I have to change my Fuel Pump on my car but I will do some pressure tests to be sure. I have a OEM new and used (137K miles) sitting.

I never thought I would need my spare wiper motor but low and behold I did and much sooner than I thought.

Definitely go OEM. At some of the prices NAPA charges, OEM would probably not be too far more expensive.

There are a number of threads already mentioning the Fuel Pump Control Unit. If it is not working, there is a potential fix that involves examining the harness and board. Saved me a bundle. Also do not confuse the harness examination with the EMERGNECY jumping of the unit. This will sacrifice the life of the pump from new to crap in a week or two.

:welcome: to NICO!

Your best bet is to find a good used one. If you need one I should have a good spare around here somewhere. They usually go for about $50. If yours is suffering from a burnt lead on the board, you could jump over the burnt area with a wire. You can also replace the bad transistor looking components that are screwed to the side (as a heat sink) if those are melted. Those are the two failure modes that we see most often.

Right.

I wouldn't recommend a used fuel pump as it's a wear item with an average life of only about 80K before fuel quality dropped so much a few years ago.... not sure what to expect now.

Well as long as a heavy duty transistor is put into the Fuel Pump Control Unit and fuel pressure is checked every 6 months to a year I would say go for it. but with a brand new fuel pump all that fear could be taken away but it all depends on how much you want to spend on knowledge and money.

Is ISO-HEET still good to use?
