I just had this intrepid idea to put my 350z key into my 240sx ignition and, even though it won't turn for obvious reasons, it does in fact fit. The key blade is a little thicker, and this is the only reason I'd see it not working.

I'm not a huge fan of these ugly aftermarket keys so I'd like to get a few nice ones made. Has anybody tried getting a 240sx key made from a 350z blank, or any other Nissan for that matter? Or does anybody know if it will, in fact, work?

If it's a blank and you get it cut i don't see any reason for it to not fit.

That's a what... $6, maybe $7 question. Go make a 240 key out of a cheapie Z33 key blank and see what happens. If it works, great. Get the new Z33 blank from Nissan. If not, no big deal.

Oh wow...haha. I thought since the Z key was a "transponder key" it'd cost a little bit more. Either way, I just wanted to see if anybody had done it before I went all the way across town to Nissan to buy one.

I'm not quite sure I follow you, man. How's a 350z key cut for a 240sx going to make it easier to steal? Just the grip of the key is going to be different, that's all. No safer, no easier in my opinion.

You'd have to fail at life to resort to nico forums for car jacking tips.

Not to mention talking about other blank key blades has ZERO to do with car theft.

Some threads exist where there is no talk of blanks. Once some threads started floating round on how many s13 keys are similar, you better believe some guys started trying out their keys on other cars. Tons of Nico members can attest to it, lol.

You can do a couple of different things to get a different key. You can look for a different style key. Im not to sure about getting a 350Z key, plus they are alot more then 6 to 7 dollars. Alot more. I agree that the stock key looks super ugly. I went on Ebay and bought 2 nismo keys. I went to 10 places in my home town and no one would cut the key for me. I finally went to the dealer and the guy cut my key old school, by hand. I have Also seen guys take there stock key and cut off th handel. Then connect it to the inside of a switch blade. I thought it was interesting. But my new car will require no keys....

Ok. But we are talking about blank keys.

Honestly, whoever doesn't know about keys and similarities between cars probably won't be stealing a car in the first place.
