Actually the LS430 is the finest Q they never made, by the time the new 4.7/5.0 engine comes out it will be the finest Mercedes S500 they never made and the least expensive.

The LS430 [EURO] Sport has enough adjustment in its front and rear camber and toe [reset for handling not tire wear] to easily out handle the BMW/MB/Q of the same weight properly tired!

I've always thought the Audi A8/S8 was cool. If I had 80K to blow -- and a backup car for inevitable shop time -- I'd buy one.

Also like old BMW 6-series & 5-series (through mid-80s). And pre-'87 Jaguars.

Never really obsess about supercars. Not my style.

Hehe...exactly. It's nice to know of an off-road brute with class, and the beast of a countach engine.

I love mentioning that to people and watch them go, "whuh?" :D

Forgot these ones:

Maserati Ghibli (either hardtop or convertible)

Ferrari Lusso

Lamborghini Miura

I also used to go nuts over the Countach. Especially when I first saw it in Road & Track (I think it was ’82-’83). It BLEW MY MIND!!!!!!! But now that I'm a bit older I find that the home made interior design aspect of this car is somewhat disapointing. I still love the complex lines of the car though. I remember being impressed by the "low profile" 345/50/15 tires. Now they look really thick!

My dream car is a black 911 Turbo, black interior with tinted windows and reworked by Herr Ruf.

I'll take a new M5 for daily driving.

im the only fan of the Z32 here? are infiniti owners so detached from nissan owners that they forget that most of these supercars are easily trounced by a lowly twin turbo model of 1989? (in japan).... i see rx7s and supras, so why is everyone hatin' on the Z?

How about an Alpina BMW? Anyone collect Exotic Cars Quarterly from the early '90s? Every issue was packed with cars I'd drool over for hours. I blame Road&Track for taking up much of my late teen years.

I used to think Alpina cars were WAY cool. I remember seeing them in Road & Track/Car & Driver.

How about BB Porsches? As a kid I liked them. Now they look a bit over the top, kind of like Gemballa. I used to like those monocolor AMG cars as well.

Does anyone remember the MBZ CW311? That used to be another dream car for me. And since I'm talking about over the top cars I used to also like the Vector!

When I was really young I used to drool over the 917 Porsche.

Benz 300 SEL 6.3! Built from 68-72, and, supposedly, was fastest production sedan in the world, at the time! Mine, like most, suffered from the dreaded leak down of its air suspension and, in the morning, looked as if it had been to TJ for a suspension mod! But, Junge, Junge, Junge, would that car run! Sold mine to a Calif doctor through Road & Track ad.

MBZ 6.3 and then 6.9 are like the precusors to the Q45. The Maserati Quadraporte also comes to mind. Ultra fast, large luxurious sedans! Just that the Q is not plagued with all of those problems as the others did.

Saw one the other day whose hood was up. The mechanical injection looked crude, but it was the state of the art when it appeared.

OMG what a loaded question! I'm leaving exotics off my list and keeping mine to cars that anyone can go out and buy basically. There are too many for me to list them all and I could never think of them all in one sitting, but here are some of my non-Nissan faves:

BMW M5 (all gens)

Jaguar XK

Subaru WRX (especially the '04 STi)

VW Jetta

Lexus LS430

Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover (ONLY SUV's you will see on my list)

Honda S2000

Mazda RX7 (Latest gen)

Prosche Carrera

And my FAVORITE: SAAB 900 Turbo ('88 through '93 models)

Vettes=American build quality+rabid owners that think they're cool+stupid concours that give you extra points for sloppy workmanship because that's the way it originally came from the factory(really!)

911/Q45 - just read your post - LOL!

I do like the latest vette. I'm sure it will be even better with the new suspension technology that GM has just developed. My uncle in law has one and is quite happy with it (he's had it since 98). Hasn't had any problems and his car gets 20-30+ MPG with all that horsepower! It just isn't FAIR! Well it does make me feel a bit better that I still think the interior of that car is rather lacking (any GM car for that matter). Switchgear/IP looks a bit "Playschool" to me! Despite that it would be an excellent every day driver.

Just bought a '98 Toyota Landcruiser with the 230 hp 4.7 V8. The thing rocks. Couldn't afford a new-enough QX4 to get the 240 HP V8. Locking differentials are a blast in the sand!

It's a nice contrast to the '98 Q45T, with some strong similarities in quiet, smooth power. Lots of creature comforts, and reasonable sound system.
