I've been driving my M35x for a long time and the reality is that sooner or later I will have to look for alternatives - when I narrowed down my search for Infiniti M back in 2009 it was because I liked how spacious it is inside and how the base model had all the options I wanted.

In M35x I can take my seat almost all the way back and still there is a room for people to seat in the rear.
It would be natural to consider Q70 or better Q70L but the new design is not my cup of tea - I hope they bring Q70 looking closer to Q50 rather than M37.
If I try BMW 535d and seat comfortably there's about 4" left between the back of the front seat and the rear seat.
Same issue with E-class. 7-series, S-class and A8 are too big and too expensive, I haven't even considered them due to budget constraints.

I am also considering to get a bit higher car as with my back problems it's not fun to get in and out sedans.
Looked into QX70 - don't like the looks, really liked how FX35 looked but lost it with F37 .

So far I've been looking into Subaru Outback 3.6R (as a budget choice) and Porsche Macas S (as out of budget solution).
Have you already gone through this? What did you find?

I'd still go with a Q70...I think the 2011-2014 need 'work' to look nice (I'm in the process) but I think the 2015+ with the new front end only need wheels, drop, and tint. That's it. The car is absolutely stunning IMO.

have you considered Kia Cadenza or Hyundai Genesis? They are great looking cars with spacious interior.

Wow! Thank you! I really like Genesis - gonna check it out. On paper it has more space than my M35x.

Not a fan of the Genesis front end - too much grille - like a large mouth bass gasping for air. Great warranty and great audio if you pay extra for it.
In the price range of the Q70 there are very few that come close to that level of luxury and interior room - not to mention the newer muscular front end. The newer tail lights look great too - like exaggerated quotation marks with an Asian flair. The wavy body put me off at first, but it has since grown on me. My only gripe about the interior is that even in the qQ70L, all you get in the back seat is a pair of cup holders - no controls for back seat passengers and no panoramic roof.
As for the KIA Cadenza, not even close in style, luxury, or roominess. The KIA 900 is nice, starts at about $%%k for the luxury model, but ... no options. You pick the color and the exterior color determines the interior color. That's all the choice they offer.
I'd have to agree with Ilya. The Q70 is the best for roominess, luxury, and body design. If you don't care about spending significantly more than the Q70 price, the best choice is the Jag XJ-L.

Thanks, Larz, for now I just want to compile a list of options so when the time comes I know exactly where to go what to check.
Q70 is always on the list but from the looks Genesis reminds me more of my M35x than the new Q70.

About Jag - XJ is big and pricey, right there with 7-series, S-class and A8, XF I need to take a look but I am not sure I want a Jag, they are very unreliable, aren't they?

I don't mind the Genesis, had one as a rental from NY to MO a few years ago when they first came out. Jury is out on their reliability or how long they last, but that rental which was brand new was quite nice.

Or the Hyundai Aguus or whatever it's called...

Have you looked at a later model M35 (2008-2010) that's been well-kept with low miles? There are quite a few out there and the pricing is downright cheap. Just a thought.

No, this is not my style, so I wouldn't do that - I'll keep mine as long as I can and then I'll get something new new or new used.

Jag makes a new line called the XF. It is smaller body than the XJ, as well as the M or Q models, but is quite roomy even in the back seats(NOT as roomy as the M or Q). The XF is way ahead on tech and comfort. The XJ-L can go near and even over $100k, but the new XF is nearly the same or slightly less expensive than the Q70.
Far as reliability, Jags of older years were problematic. They were never as bad as Mercedes, but they were trouble years ago. The newer models seem to do quite well and maintenance is included for the first 5 years of ownership.

As a side, my 2009 is now 7 years old, with low miles (40s). Not a single person who rides in it or sees it can believe it isn't new. It just had it's first repair - O2 sensor bank #1. You may want to consider getting a newer model that is in similar condition to mine, but know that mine lacks the newer tech features like blind spot, 360 cam views, and parking sensors. They weren't available back in 2009.

Been casing out the Chevy SS (Commodore Holden). No marketing. 2014s were introduced as all auto, but starting on 2015, manuals and magnetic suspension were introduced.

Roomy, powerful and higher end interior than the Chevy you remember.

I dont really know what your end goal is. Price, year, luxury...didnt read everything, just saw a couple fancy models mentioned and space and price. So go for a used Bentley. You can get 05-08 for less than $50K with 40K-70K miles in excellent condition. All the space and luxury you need. Just make sure you're a handy person and dont need to go to a dealer to get everything done.

Aside from that, HUGE +1 for a genesis....except for that awful grill. If I knew for certain it was at least as reliable as the M, I think I would take it over any Q or M.
